How is this 4k if transmitter unit only has hdmi 1.4 standard?

4K is not limited to HDMI 2.0. There are many professional quality displays and components that support 4K resolutions under the 1.4 Standard. This unit supports 4K resolution on devices that support 4K and HDCP 1.4/ They are not mutually exclusive.

How do I use the IR ports on this Blackbird 4K HDBaseT splitter/extender? My projector is located 25 feet up in the air, and the remote control doesn't work at that distance. I would assume that I need to plug an IR emitter into the Blackbird receiver, and then tape the emitting end to the projector. Then, I plug the IR receiver into the Blackbird transmitter. Does that sound right? Thanks!

That would be the only way I could see that setup working.
If you keep in mind that smaller IR is the transmitter and the larger IR is the receiver this should work.

exceeded expectations
I installed it to prove it works then had to de-install it and wait for my AV guy to finish his installation of my Cat6 and other wires. The Monoprice solution, for $699 is complete and will replace the equipment the AV guy is quoting me for $6,800. Of course, his has more capability and expansion, but who cares, I dont need the expansion or extras. This solution from Monoprice worked exactly as described and does more than I could have hoped for, and installed easily and intuitively. I cant wait for AV guy to finish so I can hook up my Monoprice equipment. Monoprice folk are smart and good to deal with also.

Works, but has some quirks and functional issues
Very easy to setup, I've only run into two issues. I am currently using all four ports and basically have mirroring systems setup in our basement. Sometimes when changing channels it is as if thes signal strength etc. waivers and there isn't enough signal for the image so some tv's will not show image. I usually have to turn everything off or reconnect the hdmi signal being split, etc.
Howeve my primary issue is there is not on/off switch. The primary unit gets very hot and the receivers (powered by Cat6) get hot too. I have concerns about the units lasting due to this. I've added a cooling unit to the main unit.
I've tried changing the power supply to be dependent on a remote source (A/C Receiver or Power Manager) and the reboot causes signal issues often. If the product lasts, I will be happy with it.

It just works!
Basically plugged in and it works great. Great product and save a lot of space in the rack since it is just 1 unit in the rack and 1 power plug.
