The specs say that the build area is 4.3 x 4.7, which appears to be length x width, but what is the maximum height for a model that this can build?
BEST ANSWER: Because the build platform is a circle, the specs are expressed as "diameter x height" -- note the use of the "ø" character in the specs to indicate diameter ("ø110 x 120").

I am unable to reach a bed temperature of 100°C with the extruder heater on. Is this considered normal operation? I can reach 100°C with only the bed heater on, but as soon as I switch on the extruder heater, the bed starts to cool down as the printer prioritizes heating the extruder. With the extruder set to 230°C and the bed set to 100°C, I can only reach a bed temperature around 70°C (stable).
BEST ANSWER: You should set up a slave heater on it to reach that temp. The power supply included is not capable of this.

How do you set the bed higher than 60°c ?
BEST ANSWER: The only way to get the platform to go higher than 60 decrees C is in your slicer application of choice. For example, the printer comes with Cura, so you will have to set the bed (platform) temperature there to what you need it to be.

What can it print?
BEST ANSWER: I would say you can print all sorts of things, and if you're new to the 3d printing cene this is an excellent starter printer to introduce you to the field. I myself would stick with pla mainly due to how easy it is to work with, but that being said, abs should work too if you have a way to enclose the print area or keep the print space adequate warm. the only concern I'd have with abs would be the outgassing, which is fairly noxious and potentially dangerous.

I'm looking for my first printer should i get the mini delta or select mini v2?

MP Mini Delta 3D Printer

BEST ANSWER: I own both and I would say the Delta Mini is best if you want to print quickly and easily with not much tinkering. The Select Mini requires bed leveling and will eventually need you to do a gantry support modification as it is only supported on one side. It's not a difficult or expensive mod but it's a hands on project. If you want to add a glass bed, it requires a bit more tinkering with the Select Mini. Still fairly easy but you'll need to open the printer case and print a Z-stop spacer. So it really depends on how much you are interested in tinkering.

Is there any firmware updates on the below product mini Delta printer?
BEST ANSWER: While there is firmware updates from the actual manufacturer, Monoprice doesn’t support them. And I’ve heard if you updated the firmware, that it voids your warranty.

What kind of filament does this use?
BEST ANSWER: I've only printed with PLA, but the manual states "PLA, ABS, and other materials." The wiki lists PLA and ABS, with PETG and Wood filaments being also possible. All filaments are 1.75mm.

Can the Delta print using PETG filament?
Can a replacement heated bed with PEI layer be found for the Mini Delta? Mine has a patch torn from when I tried to remove a print.
BEST ANSWER: You're better off removing the pre-existing print bed material until it's the base metal and then using blue painter's tape for adhesion. You could also go with commericial solutions such as "BuildTak", but blue painters tape is the most economical option.

I purchased the Delta Mini and has a ton of bed leveling and offset issues. Does anyone else have these issues, and if so, how did you fix them ?
BEST ANSWER: Join the mpminideltaowners group on Facebook - without it your chances of success are very low. With it - assuming you don't run out of patience - you WILL get to the point where you get good prints out of this machine. This group has been a total lifesaver.

How do i get my mac to recognize the printer through USB?
bed material that is in contact to the medium?
Am I able to import a model (stp, stl, etc.) from Solidworks to use on this printer, or must it be converted to Gcode prior?
BEST ANSWER: STL's need to be converted to Gcode through a slicer program. The most common slicer program is probably Cura. It's free and easy to use.. To generate supports you can utilize another free program called Meshmizer before you import it into Cura. Please be aware good prints require optimal settings and that takes time and research. 3D printing has come a long way but it's still very "hands on" vs plug and play.

Does the MP Mini Delta printer work with Simplify-3D?
BEST ANSWER: I tried it out and it seemed to work ok. I had some issues, but I found out later it was due to the memory card being corrupted and filling the gcode with a lot of UUUUUUUUUUU values. Also, I found that the MP Mini Delta Wiki has Pre and post gcode script which also fixed a lot of issues with starting to print.

Can this printer do tpu or any flex materials? Want to print mounts for my mini quad. "Drone"
BEST ANSWER: In its current configuration, it's not an ideal setup for flexible materials (Bowden tubes aren't ideal for flexibles). You might be able to use a semi-flex material with some careful tuning if you slow it down and adjust retraction and extrusion parameters. Some people have had luck printing TPU with Bowden tubes, too. I haven't tried it, myself, but now I want to (I have some SainSmart TPU laying around).

Good machine - needs firmware updates
Pros:
* Great entry-level price
* Excellent first or secondary printer
* Auto leveler works (after gcode configuration)
* Solid/proven company name (monoprice/IIIP)
* Plug-n-play operation (sort of)
* Most of the problems I've noted below are probably fixable via firmware updates.
Cons:
* Could not get working via macbook connection
* Requires GCODE configurations (not entry-level friendly - see tips)
* Filament loading is difficult (not entry-level friendly - see tips)
Tips:
* Use offline printing (SD card) to avoid software or network problems ruining your prints (completely personal preference)
* MUST USE LOW DENSITY SD CARDS - High density cards will not work and it won't tell you why.
* Unwind the PTFE tubing (white filament tubing) from the cable bundle to make loading / troubleshooting filament easier
* May need to detach PTFE tubing to properly feed filament into the extruder (print-head)
* GCODE for auto-leveler must be added to the "Start" GCODE in your machine configuration. You also need to fine-tune the leveling in the GCODE. (see below)
* Common bed adhesion practices still apply here (blue painters tape makes PLA stick to the bed better, etc)
GCODE for auto-leveling:
You will need to add a G29 command to trigger an auto-level before each print. Mine looks like this:
G29 C-0.4 Z0.1
The "C" parameter can be used to fine-tune the leveler. Negative values will level closer to the plate and positive values will level further from the build plate.
---
Good Luck and enjoy your printer!

The little Delta that could..
Only 4 stars due to small bed size and slightly odd-ball control interface.
Used within its physical limitations, this printer is capable of surprisingly good prints, with clean, error-free layers, excellent registration, and very consistent flow rates using PLA Plus+.
Setup using Repetier/Slicer, its prints are as good, and for smaller objects better, than my highly tweaked Wilson2 Prussa clone and certainly exceeded our expectations for its low price.

Performance vs Price is amazing
Produced perfect test print straight out of the box.
I brought it into work where we have 3D printers costing up to $400,000
The engineers were all impressed and the performance vs cost.
A great choice for my first 3D printer... thank you Monoprice !

Best Bang for the Buck on the Market Currently.
BLUF: The mini delta is an accurate and speedy printer with all features one would need this side of a Prusa.
Pros:
- the price is in impulse-buy range.
- delta kinematics allow for faster print speeds in addition to just looking cool.
- works right out of the box.
- accuracy: first calibration cube (no adjustment) was fewer than 100 microns off on all sides. At .1mm, I can even read the writing on the back of a benchy.
- compact and sturdy, it's now my preferred travel printer.
- all the features, heated bed, auto cal, etc. There's really not much to upgrade our mod.
Cons:
- connectivity: micro USB would not work reliably, and the SD card is finicky (cause of my two failed prints (out of around 30 prints/ 500g filament). I have to reformat it every week. I haven't tried WiFi yet.
- noise
Tips:
- Use 6 point bed leveling. Google the g code to input into Cura.
- format the SD card as FAT32 and uncheck quick formatting. This works most consistently for me.

Very impressed
My first print is going as I write this, and I'm impressed with how far the technology has come in such a short time. I have a Select Mini as well and while that printer is great, this one blows it away. I had it out of the box and printing within 5 minutes. Great quality and speed - I'm looking forward to trying an ABS print - something I was never successful with on my Select Mini. Not having to level the bed is worth the price of admission itself.

Won't do ABS
Printer works fine on PLA but when trying ABS bed will not go higher that 60C. Contacted tech support a week ago and no response. Specs say it will do ABS and bed should go to 100C.
Not sure why no response.

Good price for starters
I'm writing this in comparison to an MP Select Mini. The price is lower and there are more features. However, there are also some things to consider.
- The Delta is a bit noisier than the Select Mini
- There is no power button so to turn on & off you need to unplug the power
- Auto bed leveling is nice compared to the Select Mini since you have to twist each screw individually
- The buttons on the Delta are not as user friendly as the Select Mini, just personal preference. There's also no manual movement options on the Delta which was present on the Select Mini, maybe because it's a delta printer vs standard cartesian?
I only played around with it for a bit but I was not able to get to 250C consistently, it would drop back to 243 and fluctuate. The bed temperature also never reached 50C. The Select Mini was was a bit slower in heating up (both bed & nozzle), but at least it was able to get to these temperatures and stay there.
Still, I was able to print a relatively complex print with the Delta with slightly faster speed than the Mini. For the price, this is definitely hard to beat.

For the price this printer does a great job
I initially struggled trying to print with ABS and then realized this printer really can't sustain the heated bed at the recommended temperature to support this material (even though the specifications suggest it can reach 90 degrees). Once I switched to PLA things started working great!

Cheap, fast, or good. Pick two.
It is what it is. It's cheap, fast and adequate. It has alignment issues, dimensional drift in the prints, and the gap between the feed tube and the extruder itself, which can be a point of jamming if you don't preheat the nozzle and force some filament through to clear any jams due to cold filament.
It's very well built. Well packed. A solid machine that has bed leveling and easy to set up. It's also fast. I'm impressed. It will make a great secondary printer next to my MP Maker Select V2 (Wanhao i3 clone).
This will work great for brackets, braces, items that do not need to worry about finish. I think it will be great for a backup system. I'm very happy with it, but I would not have it as my primary machine.
