If you buy enough of these it starts to make more sense as the price for freight does not change until weight starts playing a factor. For a single tabletop, $222 does seem excessive. In Aug '21 I ordered (2) 6ft table tops with the sit/stand L-base and the total shipping was just under $200 to my zip code. Due to the weight and solid construction, that was a reasonable shipping cost.

BEST ANSWER: No, you would have to drill your own if you wanted too. I used desk mounted stands. They can slide since the top is laminate. Just be careful to check should you adjust your screens.

Thank you. One more question. Why do the instructions show the 6ft table being installed on the right side such that it is not equally supported (the middle arm is 90 degrees to the end arm. It would seem that the 6ft panel should go on the left side as you stand in the "v" shape so the top is equally supported on the arms that are set at parallel to each other, giving better support for the smaller top via the mating plates.

You are correct, that orientation is probably not the most optimal way to mount the desktop, switching the tops to provide more support for the longer top would be better. We'll update the manual to reflect it. Having said that, the tops would still be supported sufficiently by the length of the frame and the mounting plates. Thanks for the feedback.

Hi, what's the recommended weight load for this (probably the 6 foot) when paired with the matching monoprice sit/stand desk? I'm looking at a new set up for my recording studio desk, and while there won't be a TON of stuff on it I wanted to ensure placing studio monitors at the edge using desk mounted Gator monitor stands would be a safe bet. Thanks!

BEST ANSWER: No sure if the specs are listed. But I have two 34 inch monitors and few things office stuff. I was able to move the desk up and down with the manual adjustment stand. For sure I would have been able to put a older 2000s printer on top without an issue either. It does feel very sturdy overall. Max weight I've put on was about 60 lbs and still felt strong. (monitors/pc/mykid standing on it) Definitely recommend.

BEST ANSWER: Hi, the 70" tabletop weighs around 50 lbs. The core is engineered wood throughout, so it is definitely more solid and tougher than your previous top. It is designed to handle office and computer desk loads and applications, but we have only tested the tops with the height adjustable desk frames that support the middle section of the desktops. For your intended application, it would probably be a good idea to avoid putting excessive weight on long overhangs or long sections that are unsupported underneath to ensure long term durability. I want to use this tabletop with legs I have purchased elsewhere. With the core of this being engineered wood will is support screws that aren't in the holes that were predrilled?

Also, it would be best if there's a way to ensure the stability of the legs, either with a wide enough mounting point with multiple screw positions, or if there's bracing or framing that would prevent side-to-side movement. This top was designed to be used with a desk frame where the legs attached to, so this top itself was not designed to withstand side-to-side movement / force.

BEST ANSWER: We have some 5ft desktop options that are not as expensive to ship, you could explore if products 33085 and 30913 might work for you. Unfortunately the longer desktops proved too difficult to ship for local shipping providers and they kept damaging the longer and heavier tops. We still provide a trucking delivery option, but shipping 1pc is expensive and the shipping method works better for orders with several desk frames and tops like for small offices. Alternatively some home improvement or furniture stores might have desk top options, or a local countertop business might have products that could work.

BEST ANSWER: We have some 5ft desktop options that are not as expensive to ship, you could explore if products 33085 and 30913 might work for you. Unfortunately the longer desktops proved too difficult to ship for local shipping providers and they kept damaging the longer and heavier tops. We still provide a trucking delivery option, but shipping 1pc is expensive and the shipping method works better for orders with several desk frames and tops like for small offices. Alternatively some home improvement or furniture stores might have desk top options, or a local countertop business might have products that could work.

BEST ANSWER: Now that mine is Built-in in place I can confirm that this works. I have a 6' section on the left and a 5' curved section on the right. Kind of stunning when it's finished.

BEST ANSWER: Yep, it’s just the desktop - no legs installed. There are some pre-drilled holes to serve as a guide. I ended up needing an additional support leg in the center of the 6’ top.

Some pre-drilled holes might not align perfectly, but at least two of them should align and help you position the top. You can then predrill for the other mounting locations, or the screws included with the frame can self-drill and screw on directly to the desk, it would just take a bit more effort.

BEST ANSWER: Yes there will be alot of overhang. I used that frame and 2 different tops. You could do the 6 foot on one side and the 4 foot on the L part.

Can you use 2 of the 6-foot table tops for this? So, the total length on the long side would be 100.4" (8 feet by 35 inches)? If so, how is the stability? Does the desk shake when raised?

There is a warning that states, "This product may contain a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer or birth defects or other reproduction harm." What is this chemical? I plan to be spending a lot of time at my desk so hopefully this won't be a deal breaker.

Would buy again if it on sale
Got it on sale. It is absolutely amazing. Great size and holds 3 big monitors and still room for activity. Highly recommend buying IF it is on sale for under $40 usd.

Nice table-top for sit-stand desk
I bought the 6 foot black top because free shipping was offered. It has pilot holes for attaching to the Monoprice sit-stand frame. All surfaces are nice. (It was shipped with protective styrofoam on all surfaces.) All edges and corners are square. Rounded would be preferred, though I'm sure that would be difficult to do.

Perfect
I ordered two 6 footers and cut one. It cut perfectly and looks seamless on my sit/stand desk. Very solid piece of wood and has a bit of heft. I highly recommend buying this if you're interested in building your own desk. As everyone has stated, pre-drilled holes didn't match, but that was no hinderance.

Holes didn't match
Good tops, but the holes didn't match at all to the lower frame. But easy enough to make your own. Didn't have to pre-drill.

Great desktop but shipping is a ripoff
I own a different size desktop I purchased from Monoprice and I need something longer now. This desktop is great. Quality product that was wall protected and arrived in perfect condition when I purchased my standing desk frame all from Monoprice.
Now that I need a larger one, I came back here. This is exactly what I need but the only shipping option if FedEx and it's $220, three times the cost of the desktop to ship it. No way is that happening. If there was a reasonable option I'd purchase it immediately, but I'm not paying 3x the cost of the item to ship it. Super disappointed in the lack of realistic shipping options.

Heavy Duty Top goes with sit stand leg unit
I would recommend buying the tops from Monoprice as well. They are very heavy duty. The 4' was out of stock for the 2nd desk so we bought an extra 6 foot top and cut it ourselves, then putting the cut side up against the main top, you can't even tell. Be sure to use a fence or guide and an appropriate blade. We had to do this because our office was smaller for the 2nd desk area. Plus we didn't want to wait for the back order.
Where the sections of the desk meet. We cut this one down to size for the office area.
