What is the difficulty level of assembly? Thanks
New User U
on Aug 17, 2020
BEST ANSWER: The assembly is very straightforward. I would say that it is similar to the typical shelving-type furniture kits you can buy that come flat and need to be assembled as per instructions. Nothing complicated at all. I found it to be well-illustrated and had common screw sizes, etc. for numerous parts that made it really very understandable. The wiring is impossible to get wrong and just plugs into the controller. Highly recommended, and the result is a really sturdy unit. Totally love mine!

The assembly was rather easy with simple tools. You'll need a drill and a level. Depending on the desk top you're installing, you might require a second pair of hands to help you get everything aligned and positioned in your space once it is complete.

Assembly is straightforward and does not require any special tools. Follow the directions carefully. There was one place where I went a bit too far and had to back up, but no big deal. It's been well worth it though. It operates very smoothly.

What would you say is the complexity of assembly?
A shopper
on Aug 17, 2020
BEST ANSWER: It' pretty easy. Way easier than a lot of IKEA stuff is.
You put the feet on the legs, etc.. So it ends up looking like the picture below. You then stand it up (might take two people but I was able to do it myself). You then set your top on top of it (again it would depend on how big your top is as to whether you'd need help). Then you run a few screws in to secure it. You then mount the control panel somewhere convenient (agani just a couple of screws). You tidy up all the wires and plug it in and off you go!

Putting the base together just involves bolts with hex heads, if I remember correctly. It's a little heavy, but putting each component together isn't difficult. Once you attach the top, you'll likely need a second person to help flip upright (unless you flip upright and then attach the work surface, which could work if you have a pre-drilled top like the tops Monoprice offers).

It’s pretty simple and the instructions are easy to follow. I used a power screwdriver to help speed things along and then hand tightened everything. If you get the Monoprice desktop surface there are predrilled guide holes to make it even easier.

Pretty low complexity. I did it solo in a couple of hours. Having a second set of hands would make that go by much faster. The hardest part was making sure the table top was lined up straight

Can you daisy chain 2 Electric Height Adjustable Desk Frames together so they raise and lower at the same time/rate?

BEST ANSWER: Hi, this product does not have the ability to be interconnected easily in this way. A possible easy work-around would be to save the same preset heights on the desks. They would still move independently (and possibly at different speeds depending on the load), but they would end up at similar heights at a touch of a button.

How high is the adjustable horizontal bar that goes all the way across the top? I don't mean how high does it go, but literally, how high is the actual metal bar itself (e.g., if you laid just that single bar flat on the floor, how high would it be? I need to know because I have to get creative so that I can install my articulating keyboard tray underneath the desk. Since the bar will interfere with the 24 inches of "front to back clearance" I need for "flush under the desktop" installation, I was thinking of cutting up some framing studs (e.g., 1 X 3s, 2 X 2s, etc.) in front of and behind the horizontal bar (attached to the desktop), and then attach the keyboard mount to the studs, and I only need the studs to be thick enough to clear the height of the bar. Thanks! ~Karen

on Jun 11, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hi, the horizontal bar itself is 1.5" tall, but note that the control box mounts in the center area of the frame and may get in the way. If you are handy with DIY projects, you can mount the control box directly and elsewhere under the table top but you would need to supply your own fasteners. Also note that there are screw heads and some flat bars that protrude a bit from the center area of the frame so you might need to go a bit thicker than 1.5" inches. An alternative I would also suggest is to consider setting up your desk height to get a comfortable keyboard position, and then using a fully adjustable gas spring monitor mount (like product 15525) to get your desired screen viewing height. Thanks.

BEST ANSWER: Hi, although that was the original intent and design for these products, the current inventory in stock will most likely not lineup (Q1 2021) due to supply constraints during the pandemic.
But mounting the top on the frame is not too difficult compared to the assembly process for the desk itself. It's would be an extra step to measure and position the top and to either pre-drill or use the screws to start the hole.

Great Value
These fantastic legs worked out of the box.
The memory settings are perfect.

I loved the desk until I needed support out of warranty
I normally have nothing but good experiences with Monoprice, but wanted to share that after the 1 year warranty they do not support the product.
In my case things suddenly stopped working just today. The left motor works, but the right one doesn't causing the desk to skew and actually toppled one of my monitors (thankfully it didn't break).
I tried all the troubleshooting steps including the desk reset, but the right motor seems to be dead or dying.
Knowing how modular this desk is, I contacted support to see what help or replacement parts were available. We went through basic troubleshooting again, and I was told there is nothing they can do except have me buy a new desk frame at full price.
I asked who the manufacturer was and if I could contact them to buy replacement parts. I was told Monoprice is the manufacturer and that they do not offer replacement parts.
There's no winning if/when your desk stops working after the 1 year warranty. You just have to buy it again at full price. I'm unimpressed.

Works for me!
Love: Quality @1/5 of the price of a new standing desk, durable, safe
Don't love: some controls aren't intuitive -- you must keep the directions nearby

Good result for a great price. Assembly was not complicated.
Setup took about an hour. Nothing complicated. Adapted well to the size of my desk surface. Sit/Stand features are smooth and responsive. I'm very happy with the result.

Nice frame, smooth motion, moderately easy assembly
So far I'm quite happy with this frame. I was able to attach a large top, the Ikea Gerton, which is 61"x29.5" (see picture).
It lifts and lowers smoothly and relatively quickly. The control allows for 3 "settable" heights as well as manual control. The control is touch-based (not physical buttons) and must be lit to display the location of he controls. I find LEDs a little distracting and, fortunately, it "sleeps" and all the lights turn off until it's touched.
I ran into two assembly quirks. First, there 6 pads for spacing between the frame and the top, but there are ~10 possible places for screw holes that they could be put on. The instructions show that some of screw holes don't get a pad. Second, it's easy to accidentally run cables in ways that leave them dangling or more exposed than you may want. For example, after finishing I removed the top again so I could re-route a cable.

Does all it promises
Put mine together with my existing 3' by 6' desktop. Nice and solid even run up high (and it goes higher than I can conceive of using, and I'm 6' 1" tall). Very easy to set up. One person could do it all except my desk top is so heavy it took two of us to lift it on top of the base.

Ordered one for my office. Love it! So I ordered another for my home office too. Easy to setup and begin using quickly.

Just what I wanted
This is a really well-made adjustable-height desk base. I was able to re-use my desk-top, which matched the rest of my office decor. The legs operate smoothly, quickly, and with little noise. And, it goes up really high (I'm 6'3). Recommended.
