Does it sum the stereo feed to a mono signal?
Shane K
on Jun 17, 2017
BEST ANSWER: You are asking an interesting question. The short answer is no. The TRS end of the cable can indeed be confused as a typical "stereo" cable, like the one you'd d plug into a stereo headphone jack. But it's not meant for stereo audio. Instead, it's meant for *balanced mono* audio (wherein a headphone cable, which looks the same, is *unbalanced stereo*). So if you did plug the TRS plug into a stereo headphone jack, you'd end up sending stereo unbalanced signals to the XLR jack, which is *always* supposed to be wired as *balanced mono*. The end result would be "indeterminate". In other words: "Good luck". Not a good thing to do. It shouldn't melt your system down, but the end result will be some kind of weird mono signal.

Could I use this to connect an XLR mic to record voice on an iPhone?

BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question!
It would be unlikely, this would be a TRS connections and typically a phone would need a TRRS cable to connect to give you microphone capabilities.

Besides the fact that one is sold in a 2-pack, what is the difference between the Premier Series and the Stage Right branded cables?

Stage Right by Monoprice 6ft XLR Male to 1/4inch TRS Male 16AWG Cable (Gold Plated)
6ft Premier Series XLR Male to 1/4 in TRS Male Cable, 16AWG (Gold Plated), 2 Pack
BEST ANSWER: The connectors are different. Personally I like the stage right connectors better. It seems like a more solid connector.

Great cables.
These cables worked out perfect, it took a little while to get them due to out of stock issues however, if you are a musician or just like music or own the smallest of studios you will want these cables. I love them so much I'm ordering even more for my home theater, simply put, the best cables I've ever owned period.

Suited my needs. Works great.
Bought this with the intention of using from my little tube pre-amp to one of my mixers mic inputs (with pad). Works fine for that. Seems like a pretty solid cable. The XLR end doesn't like to fit snugly every time, bit that could also be the input jack, as I've had a similar issues with other cables.
