Can I hook Atmos speakers to this or leave them plugged to the AVR?
Edward R
on Aug 27, 2022
BEST ANSWER: You can drive any speaker you want with this. However, at 200 watts a channel it would be better utilized driving your main/large speakers. If you have a receiver with flexible input and outputs, then I would probably use the receiver to drive the Atmos effects channels.

You can plug any channel(s) into this amplifier via balanced(XLR) or unbalanced(RCA) inputs. They are (7) independent channels at 200 watts each. It does have convenient labels on the back but you can ignore those if used for other channels, like height or Atmos..

If you have enough outputs then go ahead and hook them up. If not your AVR should power the atmos speakers with no problem. The LCR are what need the most power. If your AVR is not powering the LCR it should have plenty of power to do the surrounds.

You could but it would be overkill. It doesn’t take much to power atmos speakers and most are easily powered by the receiver. I use it to power the the floor level speaker LCR and surround. My atmos runs through my marantz which is plenty of power.

I agree with the other comments, but my main amp is 405 watts per channel, so this amp is driving my Atmos.

This is an amplifier only. Your sources would plug in to a Pre-Amplifier which would then feed its signal to the amp.

In addition to my first answer receiver would need to have preamp outputs for each channel, your preamp will come with those. you run rca to rca cables to the inputs on the Monolith 7

The gold connectors are the inputs and the red/black knobs are the speaker connections.

What does "B" stock mean? Is this a refurbished item?
Alec P
on Apr 27, 2017
BEST ANSWER: basically yes, however this no a bad thing since you know it was done by Monoprice and eliminates the possibility of a dead unit and it comes with full factory warranty. This is a great company and I have purchased from many times, never had a quality or any other issue with them.

Typically, "B" stock is new equipment but has an imperfection of some sort. Small scratch, paint drip, etc. It's not perfect, so it's "B" stock.

Chassis only. I just purchased this based on what I'd thought I'd seen here before. With its feet on, height is 7 13/16". The front facade is very slightly taller; 7 7/8".

Monolith by Monoprice 7x200 Watts
I would definitely recommend this amp the only issue you may have is the weight it is not light. Quality, craftmanship and how clean and clear the sound, is excellent, no hum, no noise at all. Only what you put into it to come out.

Perfect addition to a AVR for 7.1.4 setup.
I love this Amp. It has tons of clean power, is dead quiet, and has absolutely no "sound signature" or warmth or coloration of its own. It just amplifies the signal with headroom to spare which is exactly what I want.
The only con would be the weight so make sure where ever you are installing this can handle this 93 pound beast.
Highly recommended

What a beast! A fantastic value!
This amp is the rock of my system. Literally, its 93 pounds. Running all 7 floor level speakers on the Monolith frees my Denon receiver to power just the 6 Atmos ceiling speakers in my 7.2.6 setup.
I could have spent twice the money for the same sound; its wonderful. If you can give up some of the aesthetics of more expensive amps, this beast delivers. For anyone not displaying their amp anyway (eg: placing it in a rack or cabinet) the money is better spent elsewhere.
Don't just take my word for it. Here is the version 1 review on Audioholics (note the balanced inputs were added to the current version 2 which I have): https://www.audioholics.com/amplifier-reviews/monoprice-monolith-7-channel-amplifier-review
Buying B-Stock was like new. I have had zero issues and trust Monoprice to stand behind their warranty.

Monoprice Monolith 7 amplifier over delivers!
I replaced 3 PARASOUND HCA amplifiers with the Monolith 7. I do not miss them at all. If not for the blue power button on the front of the amp I would not be able to tell that the amp was on its that quite. The noise floor is tremendous. Ultra quite. The amp powers my SVS Ultra center, 2 towers and 4 book shelves to reference levels with ease. They are crossed over at 80 and 60 Htz so Im not asking the amp to dig too deep. The power is very Linear and clear does not sound compressed as the spl rise. As for how hot it gets, I can not speak to that as I have a AC Infinity Aircom S8 cooling blower system automatically dissipating the heat from the amp so it stays cool. I purchased the amp from Monoprice as a B stock unit for $1,299 with the balanced inputs and feel like I got the bargain of the year. Super happy and super impressed. Can not say enough good things about this amp. Its a home run!!
