Are the outlets "tamper resistant"?
A shopper
on Aug 10, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The USB outlets are not but the AC power outlet does appear to be. It has the little plastic 'slider' pieces that 'block' the outlet until you plug something into it. I'm not sure if there are different levels of 'tamper resistance' so please bear that in mind.

Not sure what you mean unless you mean child resistant. It is a typical outlet with the exception that there are USB ports.

I would be installing it on a circuit protected by GFCI. Will it work on this circuit or would it immediately trip?
A shopper
on Feb 8, 2017
BEST ANSWER: There would be nothing to cause it to trip.
If the GFI were to trip for reasons it is supposed to, all electrical receptacles or outlets down line connected in series with the GFI would just lose power as intended.
By the way, the product works great & and you can't beat the price.

I have mine installed in a kitchen in a GFCI circuit and it is absolutely no problem. Made it easier to install since instead of going to the breaker box in the basement all I had to do was click off the GFCI while I did the installation.

I wouldn't think so. The GFCI is only going to trip when there is a short circuit. So since this device acts just like a regular socket it should not trip.

As long as it is properly grounded it should work. The two USB ports should not draw enough current to trip the GFCI

Are the USB plugs 2.4A EACH? Or 1.2A Each for a total of 2.4A.
Benjamin F
on Jan 3, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hello all, I want to help clarify this inquiry. The 2 USB + 1 Outlet In Wall Charger offers 2.4 amps total USB charging power. With that being said, if you connect one device via USB, it will use 2.4 amps USB charging power. If two devices are connected, then you will see 1.2 amps per USB port.

I would agree with Brandon S, They keep saying a total of 2.4. So I would safely assume 1.2 amps per USB port. If it were 2.4A per port you think they would explicitly say 2.4 amps per port or 4.8 amps total.

my headset requires .4A charging, will this push 2.4A?
james b
on Jan 26, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Your device will draw .4 amps during charging. It is regulated to a certain voltage not current. Just like a 60 watt bulb draws only 60 watts or 0.5 amps even when the light socket has capacity of several hundred watts. The total *capacity* of this charger for both plugs combined is 2.4 amps.

I have an iPhone and an iPad. If I connect both to the USB ports, will the charging amps be restricted to 1.2 amps each? The power adapter for my iPad is rated at 12 watts, and is much larger than my iPhone adapter..
John
on Dec 29, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Further research tells me that the iPhone adapter is rated at 5 watts (1amp x 5volts ). The iPad adapter is rated at 12 watts (2.4amps x 5volts). Since this device is said to provide a maximum of 2.4amps, it appears that both Apple devices connected at the same time will not receive their maximum charge amps. Guess this means charging will take longer.

It can be difficult to plug into the power outlet because the safety feature prevents a single contact from being inserted. Have to jiggle my plugs to get them to go in.

Overall though it’s very good. Snap on wall plate in my opinion only draw back. But for a price of $6 (with screw in wall plate) well worth it
The wall plate is not that good but I bought a screw on plate that worked much better.

Good Replacement
Replaced a transformer that had two 2 amp USB outlets, but it kept creeping out of the receptacle and was a nuisance to get behind the nightstand and replug each night. The junction box is a bit crowded with this device as you have the feed leads, these leads and the wires going to the next outlet. Just a tight fit, but has been working well. Use one outlet for Android devices and the other for Apple devices.
