I have an early 2013 15" Mac Book Pro, how well will this stand work with my laptop? will it slide?

BEST ANSWER: I have the same MBP and have had no issues with sliding. The mac will sit almost flat actually.

I am using a 17" Dell. There is a slip resistant rubber pad that covers the stand so it shouldn't slip.

My 2017 15" Macbook Pro slides off of this (literally within 10 seconds every one of the ~40x I put it on the stand); the rubber is extremely slippery and the incline is relatively steep. I had to add over an inch worth shims underneath the front of the base to get it to a place where it's almost level and stops falling off due to gravity.

I have a 2011 15" Mac Book Pro and its sitting perfectly on the stand as I type this. I've been using the stand for weeks and never had my computer slide off. A big plus to using the stand is that it keeps my computer very cool.

I have a Dell XPS 15, and it does have rubber stoppers, so it's great here. My wife has a MBP 15 and it holds just fine. Small suggestions, don't stick to the top part of the rubber so you are able to re tighten the top piece.

It may be unstable if you don't have an separate keyboard. This stand is probably more suited to a 13" MacBook, but it could definitely work with a 15" with a second keyboard.

It should stay on just fine. I've tried my 2010 15 and another newer one and I've had no problems. Definitely a great deal for something that could be twice the price.

It will not work for a 15" MacBook Pro. I have the 2012 Retina model and it slides off quite easily. Theres no way Id trust the stand for anything.

I haven't had any sliding issues, but it's not wide enough to keep it from tipping if you apply pressure to the corners of your laptop.

Will it hold a laptop connected to a docking station?
A shopper
on Sep 6, 2018
BEST ANSWER: This seems likely as typical docking stations have the same footprint as the laptop. I use it without a docking station and with or without an external wireless keyboard. The main goal is to lift the laptop screen closer to eye level to prevent neck strain. The riser stand does that. Kudos to Monoprice for a useful, functional product.

I do not think so. My laptop covers the entire surface of the A frame. There would not be room for the docking station to rest on top of this stand. I absolutely love this stand and the space below it that allows optimal use of my desk surface.

Depends on the docking station. My docking station is maybe 2.5" x 6" and I have it sitting under the laptop on that flat metal base.

How heavy is the base? is it stable?
New User U
on Feb 26, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hi, the stand is a bit over 4 lbs heavy, and most of the weight is on the base itself. The stand is stable but best for raising a laptop to a more comfortable viewing level while using an external mouse and keyboard for improved ergonomics.

How big of a laptop will this stand support? I have a Alienware Area 51-m which is a large 17.3" laptop (16" x 15" at 8.6 lbs).

BEST ANSWER: Hi, this size should work as reported by customers using similar size laptops. That size is at the upper limit of recommended sizes though and an external mouse and keyboard would be recommended. But laptop weight is within spec range so this should work. Thanks for checking.

Works Great!
Very sturdy, the grooved rubber keeps the laptop in place, easy to assemble and the height adjustment works nicely.

Decent Stand
Nice stand for my laptop. I bought because of the adjustable height, however I wish it went a bit higher so my 16in laptop could be closer to the height of my 27in monitors.
I like the flat stand which allows me to put external hard drives underneath it and save desk space.
The "A" Shape platform I wish had some more surface area or hooks at the bottom to make sure the laptop fits snug. Right now I feel I can;'t put too much pressure on the left or right sides of the laptop or else the whole thing might topple over.

This didn't work out for me the way I thought it would. I'll be giving it away with the hope that someone will have a better use for it.

Overheating issue.
Blocks air intake. Had to use shims to lift up the laptop so the air will flow. Others may not have this issue depending upon air intake location.

Solid laptop stand with basic adjustment options.
Solid. Works well with my ThinkPad. Base is fairly heavy and laptop seems stable. Could wish for a slightly larger range of adjustment--the diagonal tilt is fixed, but the top part does move up and down.

a little janky but works well and looks good
I like this stand because it's taller than the other ones I saw on the market, good for the ergonomics of my setup. It's pretty solid once you put it together (not hard). I leave my laptop on it overnight and it's never slipped off. It is slightly not level so I'm a little lopsided in web conferences but I'll put something underneath it to level it out. Bottom line, a little janky but works well and looks good.

Ok for the price.
It does job in holding my labtop, but it doesn't feel secure. Sometimes I need to press a button on my laptop, and have to worry about the laptop sliding off the stand or being misaligned.
