Can this mount be bolted directly to the desk, or is it clamp only?

BEST ANSWER: Hi, you could consider the following monitor mounts if you are looking for a product that could bolt directly to a desk using through-hole mounting hardware: Products 34302, 34078, 24587, 15526. Hope this helps, thanks.

It's not designed to be bolted to the desk directly. But, the clamp is a separate metal piece that you need to screw in with 3 screws. So, technically if you're handy, you can find compatible screws and drill through your desk and they should screw in to the top post.

Maybe if you take the clamp off and drill holes in the desk to line up with the three bolts that hold the clamp on, that would work. It's cleaner to simply use the clamp because it pushes flush against the desk and doesn't take up space.

The base of the pole is threaded and the clamp is bolted to that. If you get a long bolt and washer you could.

Can this be mounted upside down?
Jeremy K
on Mar 4, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Certainly. As long as the load is vertical, it would make no difference whether it was upside down or right side up. And it might also work mounted horizontal - the clamp seems to be strong enough to support this - but I would proceed with some careful observation as you try it - most of the newer monitors are pretty light weight.

I’ve used this mount for a lot of things and it is very sturdy. I haven’t mounted it upside down but I would say as long as what you mount the stand to is sturdy, it would work fine. I’d probably move the bracket closer to where it’s actually mounted but I think it would work just fine.

BEST ANSWER: It really depends on the size of your cable management system. The small, circular holes will be much too small for this. Some of the larger ones, with oval-shaped holes, might work if you removed the edge guard. Since the base plate is so wide, I'd say stick with using the desktop in most applications, and just place it near the desired cable management hole.

Not really. It allows you to put your monitor cables down through the top of the support tube and they come out near the base of the tube at the back.

Thanks, Ryan, for the answer. I don't think I described it right. There's a hole in the top of my desk, near the back, that's intended for keyboard, mouse, monitor cables to pass through and connect to the tower under the desk. I had seen a different one of these online that stated it could be installed in said hole. I have a hutch and back on my desk so there's no place to clamp it to the back edge.
I want to stick with Monoprice is why I was asking.
Thanks again for the answer, though!

BEST ANSWER: No. It all depends on your Maker and Model Monitor for 'depth' of the screws. Which is why normally they use them to 'screw in' the included desk stand of the monitor you use in the mounting arm as shown in the display picture. If you don't have 'mount' points on the back of your monitor no stand or such will work with it. Please review the Product Details.

Can someone tell me the height of the stand from the base to the centerline of the adjustable mount? I have 2 monitors I want to mount portrait, (taller than wide) and need to know if this will be tall enough for the monitor bottom (normally the side of the monitor) to clear the desk. I think I need a minimum of 14.5 to 15" inches to the center of the mount, more would be nice.

on Feb 19, 2021
BEST ANSWER: Height is adjustable, but at max height I measure mine as exactly 14”. So its going to be a tight squeeze for you unless you have a slight tilt on the monitor or raise the mounting brace slightly higher than the top of the pole. It’s a pretty solid cam lock and the collar is 2 3/8” long. I think you could cheat the height to 14.5” without any problem. But I wouldn’t go 15”.

Are the top holes that are cut off in the picture meant for the 100x100 VESA monitors? If so, do I need to turn the plate 180 degrees so the cut-off holes are facing downward? Otherwise it makes no sense.

on Aug 24, 2024
BEST ANSWER: No. The top holes are open so that you can start the top screws into the back of the monitor and then place the monitor into the open holes. This allows you to screw the bottom holes in without having to support the full weight of the monitor at the same time. Once the bottom screw are in you can tighten them all.

Monitor mount
Nice heavy duty stand, I am actually using it to mount a 24" television on a upper shelf in our master closet. It works great for my purpose, although I had to trim 2" off the top because it was too tall. Great price for this quality, I may order another for my computer desk, can't beat the price

Good value
Its a good value for sure. I wish it were an inch or two higher, and it does protrude towards the viewer a bit, so it ends up rendering parts of my desk unusable if I put my laptop below my monitor below it.

Great product
Quite a solid construction, lots of freedom to turn tilt twist the mount. I bought two of these as speaker stands, because the VESA plate can tilted upward by more than 90 degrees, so I was easily able to mount my speakers on top of it.

Maybe I received a defective unit
I like the build, the cable management, and the extension it provides from the pole. The vertical pole is big, much bigger than my current stand. Unfortunately, I couldn't stop it from tilting vertically. I've tighten the screw as much as I can and the vesa mount still tilts down when the monitor is mounted on to it. My monitor is less than 20 lbs, so it is well under the maximum supported weight. Wanted to really like this product.

Rated 5 out of 5
Wide range of adjustability for desk thicknesses due to the multiple mounting holes.
The clamp for up/down movement works well. For the price, this monitor mount is very well built and exceeded my expectations.
