I would start with one and see how far it reaches. Granted, we have a small house, but the router is in the basement and this on the first floor boosts the wifi up to the second floor.

You can use multiple extenders if you need around your property. They are not router specific and each obtain their own ip address.

Can I connect this with any router or is it brand specific?
Chris V
on Dec 27, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I used it with an Apple Airport Extreme, but it seems like it'd work with any router because all it does is extends the wifi signal received wirelessly from the router.

To the best of my knowledge, it is not brand-specific. Mine is currently connected to a BrightHouse (now Spectrum networks) modem/router. Theoretically, it should work with all routers, that meet its minimum requirements. I would recommend this item to friends.

Can I connect this to the router I already have? Trying to get a better signal to parts of the house especially now that classes were switched to online.

BEST ANSWER: I own the TP-Link TL-WA855RE and have it in my garage. It's connected through a CAT5e drop to a LAN port on my Linksys router. I set the TP-Liink up in AP (Access Point) mode. I'm using it to provide WiFi signal to (5) Wyze V2 cameras. I used a different SSID to differentiate it from my main WiFi network. I found this works better than the wireless extender feature.

I have a TP link Modem so the TP Link extender works fine. Don't know about other modems, as the TP link software worked with out fault in my situation. Get the extender and try it. It all depends on the configuration software.

Once setup is complete, will this unit retain those settings if power is lost?
George C
on Feb 18, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, we would not have that information available. Most routers, AP's, Range Extenders, etc. will retain settings should they lose power. However, we would recommend reaching out to the manufacturer "Netis" regarding their product. I hope this helps.

BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question.
Range extenders can only repeat the signal coming from your router so you cannot change the name or password.

Great device
I bought this for the Ethernet port mainly, so it picks up the WiFi and connects the Ethernet device (was for a Raspberry Pi, but I've used it with some desktops PCs). Works very nice.

Does not work with routers using a space in the password
This device did not connect to my router. I found a post on the Internet from another user indicating that this device cannot connect to a wireless router with a space in the password. I contacted the manufacturer over a month ago to confirm this issue and request a work-around. No response from their USA support e-mail address.
I could change the password on the my wireless router, but I have over 30 devices that use the wireless router. This may not be a bad device, but do not buy if you have a space in your wireless password and can't change it. Also, if you need vendor support don't count on it.

Only problem is tech support was clueless in how to pair it.
Finally went on you tube and paired it under 2 minutes.
Recommended purchase based price and value.
