What is special about the outer four outlets in the corners? They are outlined in green ink and have an icon I am not familiar with.

BEST ANSWER: I wouldn't say they are special but this Power Surge Strip is a better power strip than many out there with a higher Joules rating then most which is important for protecting your sensitive equipment. Highly recommend it for any expensive computer, audio TV gear. As for the 4 corners of the outlet they were basically designed to handle those bulky AC transformer plugs which takes up a lot of space possibly blocking some of the ac outlet plugs on a surge unit. They are all protected.

I believe those are for blucky plug ends - things like vacuums/microwaves and such aren't very wide and can be set side by side without blocking any of the other sockets you may want to use. Devices that have bulky plug ins like laptops can be set in the more isolated plugs so they dont get in the way.

These four corner outlets are spatially separated from the other outlets to provide clearance for box-type power adapters. There is no difference in surge suppression.

This is designed for the larger, wider plugs that sometimes take up more than 1 outlet in the smaller surge protectors.

Does this have any screws on the bottom that allow for wall or under desk mounting?
Alison C
on Jan 16, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It does not have screws on the bottom, however, it does have 4 holes in the corners that, say, the head of a screw would fit into. You could certainly hang it from those holes to mount on a wall. Upside should work as well, the holes get narrower so it can lock into place.

Interested in buying some of these however I have several suggestions or concerns? One is there a power switch on these as I don't see one? Second, since the indicator lights on the strip are real bright can you not just install a rheostat (dimmer) in line with the voltage feeding the lights to dim them as desired? This which would address these real bright issues (not the best to use in a audio visual or bedroom) or sticking them in a box.

BEST ANSWER: Hi, there is a switch near where the power cord connects to this surge protector. The switch is also used to reset the product if the built-in circuit breaker kicks in from overload (if there is too much current draw). About the LED light, we do not recommend modifications to the product since it could affect product safety or performance. Masking the light with electrical tape might be an easier solution if it is bothersome for your specific use, however this may negate the usefulness of having the visible indicator. Thanks for your interest in the product.

You cannot use a dimmer as that would drop the voltage to every device connected to the strip. Simply put, your devices likely won’t turn on unless they’re incandescent lights. Aka, DON’T put a dimmer in line.

Clean design! Perfect for multiple transformer type power supplies. Lighting on the surge protector is not too bright four bedroom use. All over, great product for the price!

It does the job
The form factor, the cord length, the surge protection -- this is exactly what I needed. I'm using this to plug in a two powered speakers, a mixer, a powered USB HUB, and a monitor, I like being able to shut all of it off together and have surge protection.

Just what I needed.
Plenty of outlets, a nice long cord, a light to show it is powered on and a side mounted switch so my cat can’t turn off the power by walking on it. It’s also wide enough it won’t tip over like some narrow power strips can.

Nice Power strip but could use a few options.
This surge unit is great for anyone who wants to protect their sensitive electronic equipment unless you don't care about protecting it against power surges and spikes. There are two issues that I would suggest needs to be done to this strip. 1) A 90 degree power plug option so you could push things like a bed frame, table or cabinet up to the plug. 2) A dimmer feature should be installed on it as the green led light is way too bright to use in bedrooms or AV rooms. Very distracting and not too professional buying a nice power surge strip and then having to wrap it up with tape to block the green light or having to put a box over it?
