does the brightness go down when it splits into to output screens?

BEST ANSWER: The brightness did not go down at all. We used 2 identical monitors just so the computer wouldn't get confused.

I noticed no loss of brightness, I think I got better resolution at projector about 30 yards away

No, because it is a powered splitter the brightness remains the same.

If I use this with my laptop, am I able to extend my desktop to two separate screens for a total of three screens (laptop screen + separate monitor + separate monitor)?

BEST ANSWER: all a distribution amplifier does is give you a duplicate image of the signal you are putting into it . For what you are talking about, you would need a laptop with more than one separate video out on it . Some of the newer MacBooks do this, by utilizing an HDMI out in addition to the thunderbolt out . I hope that helps you with your question . Good luck

It will only duplicate the external output on to two screens and the output will be the same on both screens. It does not give you three separate screens to work on. Just pushed the external screen out to two monitors/TV's ( with svga inputs).

Yes you can. You just need 3 VGA Male To Male cables at what ever length you need to reach the two monitors. If you go a very long distance, you might need a distribution amp for VGA.

Is this what I would need to plug into my laptop to use two different screens? Where I can have different programs on each screen?

BEST ANSWER: No, this type of splitter will output the same image to both connected screens. It's commonly used to split a signal to both a desktop monitor and a projector. What you're describing would probably require a dual-display Thunderbolt adapter (like Monoprice part # 31262) and would only work if your laptop has a fully-supported Thunderbolt 3 port.

It works
Have only used it for a few weeks, so I cant speak to its longevity. It does, however, distribute a split signal over a distance of 50 feet within discernible signal loss.

Nothing else like it
I was using a passive VGA splitter and an audio Y cord. Replacing them with this cleaned up the noise in my video and the hum in my audio.

Works A Treat!
I used this to split the output from my security cameras DVR. I have a dedicated monitor in the living room and one in my office. I can see what is going on with a glance. This works well with no loss of resolution.

Great price and great service
The product worked great, after I had to buy a gender changer adapter. I did not notice it had a male input jack.

VGA Splitter w/ Cables
The Splitter is a good value (Not time tested). The suggested In Wall VGA cables were NOT adequately described, and Poorly suited for connecting components. The recommendation was intentionally misleading to unload these cables.

Does what it should
This was purchased as a replacement for an ailing splitter. We expected it to work and it did what it should. Thanks for the quick service.
