Can power be supplied on any USB port or does it have to come from the usb-c side? I have a need to connect the usb-c side to a cell phone and use an mobile 4TB external hard drive on the USB 3.0 type A side. I'm concern that the cell phone cannot supply enough power to power the external HD. Can I add power through one of the other USB A connectors? Thanks.

disappointed apparently not backward compatible with usb2
i bought it (several) because should be able to put 20 watt adapter charger to multiple devices. AND thought this unit like other such would be also able to b e used with usb2 devices as well. apparently not. so now i needed usb3 to lighting cables as well. Im hoping mono will send me three of those since ones they sent with this adaptwer were 2.0 to lightning.
