fantastic speaker wires and the price is just ridiculous. what else is there to say other than "they are just great plain speaker wire." bought the 14g but could have just as easily gone with 16g or 18g.

When it comes to connecting things with wire, especially speakers, you really can't beat this speaker wire. It's cleverly labeled "speaker wire" right on the insulation, as seen in the picture, which is very handy in case you forget what it is that you're in the attic to do. Last time I used unmarked wire and it's a miracle that I wasn't lost up there for days, having forgotten my main objective. I won't make that mistake again.

Please note that "speaker wire" in this case means that the wire is to be used on speakers, not that the wire itself speaks. It didn't speak at all in the time I was in attic pulling it around through the insulation, but in hindsight, I don't know if I would, if I were in a similar situation. It's also entirely possible that it was just shy. I can't rule it out. I haven't heard any voices coming from the attic that I didn't expect to hear though, so I have to assume that the wire itself does not speak, just enables the others to do it.
The only drawback I've found with this wire, is that there's not enough on the roll. That's not to say that it's less than 100 feet, but that no matter how much speaker wire there is on the roll that you buy, you will pretty much always need at least 10% more than you estimated. This isn't unique to Monoprice official 14 AWG speaker wire though, it seems to be consistent from brand to brand, so may just be inherent to speaker wires in general.
Strictly speaking though, this Monoprice 14 AWG speaker wire, 100 ft roll ticks all the boxes as far as being 100' of 14 AWG speaker wire. It looks, smells, and tastes like 14 AWG speaker wire, and it has made the speakers make the appropriate noises, which is all you can ask for, really.

If you need to save a couple bucks on speaker wire, this is the stuff.
It didn't work well for my purposes, though.
Let me start by saying that I didn't fully read the description, so I didn't realize this was aluminum core wire.
I needed to hook up a classic pair of early 1970s JBL L100, big speakers with tiny terminals apparently made for 18 (maybe 16 gauge max) gauge lamp cord. I hadn't hooked these up in years, since my wife finally kicked them out of their place of honor in the living room home theater. They just wouldn't fit after getting new furniture...so anyway, I wasn't familiar with the product I bought or the equipment I needed to connect it to. My bad on both counts.

Probably not as conductive as a smaller gauge all-copper cable.

Haven't actually opened it yet, but it looks like 14 awg speaker wire. Good quality, well packaged. I bet when I use it, it'll work great.

It work's fine,the price was right so I bought it. Big deal...... It's speaker wire!

Unless you know for certain what's doing what in the future, I've always preferred 14 gauge - it's rarely too large, and heavy enough for most speaker - amps.
Monoprice's prices were best, I like the clear coating to easily tell it's a speaker wire, it comes on spools that don't think they are slinkys and most always surprises me how fast it all arrives.
