External drives plugged into this hub do not mount. They work fine when plugged directly into the computer (2018 Mac mini). Any ideas?

BEST ANSWER: Still super weird: I'm outside the refund window, so I returned it for a new one. Same thing: Thumb drives, external drives, nothing will mount when plugged into this hub. An Amazon Basics hub works normally. I'm puzzled, but I guess I'm stuck with it.

Have you tried plugging in the external power supply? You may not be getting enough power from the Mini's USB-C port to power your drives.

The question is asking for a Female USB-C to Male USB-C Extension Cable. The link provided points to a USB-A Cable
Did you ever find one? I don't know if Monoprice carries it, from my search.
I didn't find it on monoprice, but found a USB-C 3.1 Male To Female Extension Cable on another site that also sells Monoprice parts... not allowed to say the name, but think rainforest, if like me you want to be able to put the hub on your desk and your pc is more than 11 inches from the desk.. I think they expect this to be used for laptops more than anything else, not sure why no one considers PC use cases.

optional power adapter - Cust reviews state this came with the 5V power adapter. Now the Specs say its Optional? Where would I get the 5V adapter? Plugging in external drives needs more power than the USB buss can provide.

BEST ANSWER: It does come with the power adapter. If you are using something like an external drive, then the power adapter is there to help. If you're just connecting a low power device like a mouse or a thumb drive, the power adapter isn't required, which is why the description says it's optional.

BEST ANSWER: No, I reserve a port for my interface only. I use the hub for all the little stuff, keyboard, mouse, USB music keyboard. If you check the transfer rates for everything in your system, you can strategize which things can go in a hub and which need their own port. That said, this hub works flawlessly!

This is a great USB hub!
We love this Hub for our business laptop because it allows us to use a number of our USB accessories for patients that we see in their homes. If it also had a power pass-through, it would be the ultimate ? :-)

did not perform to expectations
My Mac was unable to successfully power four USB devices using the adapter. Two of these were bluetooth interfaces for a keyboard and mouse. Response for keyboard and mouse was flaky at best and nonexistent when these were more than about 15" away. The other two ports were an Ethernet adapter and an external hard drive (Time Machine enabled).

Bright Blue LED if you are oversensitive to those things.

Very good - Need to verify external power
This is well made and works well for me. Im using it to support 2 LED lamps, a SanDisk SSD for backup, external DVD, sync cable for iPhone/iPad, and a Logitech 920HD Video Camera. I was concerned that it might not be able to support everything from one of the full power USB-C port on a Macbook Pro 13 but its been working for days without issue. Some of the reviews talked about this product including an external power adapter/cord to supply additional power. One of the reference pictures also appears to show this however, the box did not contain the power supply and cable. There is a jack on the side which looks to be where the external power would plug in. it looks like about a 4mm female jack similar to an audio jack port. I dont know if this was discontinued or just a packing error. If MP Support reads this and one should have been included or, if one is available for additional purchase Id welcome details to receive one. Thanks!
