what does the grill tool look like?

BEST ANSWER: Thanks for your interest in this 70V speaker. The grill tool is an "L" shaped wire with a loop to hold on to. If it is lost you can use a heavy-duty paper clip bend in to an "L" to pull the frill off.

To remove the grill, you simply use the clamp mechanism to push out the grill.

not exactly sure what you mean by grill tool. The grill comes off to reveal the speaker. The screws under the grill allow you to tighten the speaker into the ceiling simply by tightening the screws.. Let me know if this does not answer your question.

Does each speaker come with a mount? We had bought speakers before and they were easy to mount cause the speaker clamped to the drywall. Would like to know of they are self mounting no extra hardware required for drywall?

BEST ANSWER: They have 4 dog ear mounts on them and we haven't using any extra hardware for mounting to drywall ceilings.

We used two 6x23 7/8" strips of 1/4" Luan positioned on either side of the hole for ceiling tile. Not needed in drywall. Works great.

BEST ANSWER: These ceiling speakers only come in white. They are paintable.

Do these really only go down to 90HZ?

BEST ANSWER: Yes but not very loudly, if you're really looking to use them for music you'll want to add subs. I installed several in a ballroom and they work great for PA and background music but get pushed when used for dancing

Great Speaker
Well made, Sounds great in commercial environment. I will buy this speaker again in the future. Also get the matching tile bridge. In the correct size as this speaker has a very large plastic can built in.

Great speakers for the price
Great speakers for the price. Easy to install but the install instructions are not correct. Likely for an older or different speaker. The speakers are much bigger then I anticipated but once mounted you can hardly see them.
I'm running the speakers in the 70v configuration and they sound great. Almost too much bass.

OK, but not great
I bought 8 of those ceiling speakers for a commercial AV setup. I wish that these came with optional T-bar brackets for my drop ceiling. By themselves, the clamps are not enough to safely mount these in a ceiling tile. As for sound quality, they sound a bit hollow or tinny. Adding a sub woofer to the max made a world of a difference but I wish that these had a fuller sound.
