BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question.
At a total power output of 2.4A, there should be enough power to charge your tablet.

Yes, just an adapter is fine. A step-down converter is not needed.

What is the difference between 2.1Amps and 2.4Amps?
Accounts P
on Feb 13, 2018
BEST ANSWER: 2.4A provides more power so that your phone can charge faster. These days, most phones and tablets will come with a charger that is at least 2.4A.
The charging time will depend on the length of the USB cable that you are using. The longer the cable the less power flowing through it. So, a 3ft cable will charge significantly faster than a 10ft cable when using a charger that is 2.4A. I believe this is why all phones will come with a 3ft cable even though everybody complains that the cable is too short.

Will this stop charging once the device battery is full?
New User U
on Sep 25, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Devices with batteries that are charged through USB chargers contain the circuitry to determine when charging is complete. All USB power ports constantly provide a voltage source for charging, the charge is regulated by the device. So, yes, but all USB chargers do, this one is not special.

Quit working
Had this for a few years and stopped providing enough volts, would not charge any device or power Raspberry Pi. Monoprice would not replace, warranty is only 1 year.

Charger review
It does the job just fine.
The cable is very thick and bulky. Much larger than a usual phone charger cable. Good for charging at home but less so for mobile use.

Less than expected
I bought this because it has a rating of 2.4A at 5vdc, I have just received the second one after returning the first because it did not put out enough current to handle a Qi charging stand which was rated at 2.0 amp at 5vdc. Based on output/input rating this should have worked. It will charge as a straight phone charger so I won;t return it and waste anymore time. Beware, it may not suit your expected current needs. Gets two stars rather than one only because it isn't totally useless.
