whats the difference between these cables and the certified ones?
A shopper
on Aug 8, 2017
BEST ANSWER: DynamicView uses the latest Active HDMI chipset technology, which means it has a chip built in the cable to boost the signal.
The Certified Premium cables are passive cables with no chipset.
Both support HDR, 4k@60Hz, 18Gbps and 4:4:4 color sampling.
The active cables can support these high performance specs up to 50 feet. The passive cables can support this high performance spec, but only up to 8 feet, or 25 feet, depending on the gauge of the cable.
Also, the active cables are directional, meaning you must plug the source end into the source and the display end into the display. The passive cables are bi directional.

Incredibly important answer! Thank you. I missed any reference to being an active or a passive cable, and it did not occur to me that an HDMI cable could be directional.
I had no signal from one source, but did from another. Made no sense. Checked the connector ends: "TV" on one end; "SOURCE" on the other end. Switched cable-ends: success.

I don't believe it actually "boosts" the signal, rather, it converts it to a proprietary format. There is a chip in each of the cable's two connectors, and these chips "talk" to each other in the proprietary signal format. But what comes in and out of the cable is a standard HDMI signal. This is why the cables are directional... one chip can only receive input from the signal source, and one chip can only receive input from the other chip.

These cables are NOT the same.
Certified Premium Cables are passive cables. They are certified to support the HDMI 2.0 spec, 4k@60Hz, 18Gbps, YUV 4:4:4 chroma sampling. Depending on the gauge of the cable, the maximum length is 25ft. 8ft for the Ultra Slim.
DynamicView is an active cable with the HT8181 chipset, which is the latest version of the active cable chipset formerly known as Redmere. This also supports the HDMI 2.0 spec, 4k@60Hz, 18Gbps, YUV 4:4:4 chroma sampling, but at longer lengths. DynamicView maximum length is 50ft.

does this cable support arc?
A shopper
on Jul 11, 2017
If you are using it for the ARC, I'm assuming you plug the source end into your display and the display end into your AVR or speaker? It's a little confusing because of the labeling, but I'm assuming that is correct because that is the direction the audio signal is running.

Can I connect this cable to an HDMI keystone and then run a separate HDMI cable from the keystone to the TV or does this cable need to be run directly from the source to the TV?

BEST ANSWER: I just bought a 40ft cable and I'm going to try using a keystone between my Oppo 203 and the wall. However, I doubt that this will work.
I'm currently using a keystone between 6ft and 25ft Monoprice certified cables. This setup is highly finicky. I had to replace the 6ft cable once (never, ever step on your HDMI cables).

Is this cable as capable as others that incorporates "high speed with ethernet"? Or, by this missing "with ethernet" capability, this feature rich cable is still missing out on something vital? Or, with its 18 Gbps bandwidth, that that capability covers the need to have ethernet and/or effectively replaces the need for ethernet capabilities?

This is an active HDMI cable that pulls extra power from the display to send signal farther than usual which is why it can have a thinner gauge at that length.

I have the 10' 34awg cables and the jacket says, "with Ethernet". Really, this is also an Ethernet cable?
A shopper
on Apr 24, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes, but with caveats. It allows two devices to share an Ethernet connection, but both must support HEC (HDMI Ethernet Connection). So, if your TV and XBOX both support HEC, for example, and you have this HDMI cable connecting the two devices, in theory, you should be able to run a single Ethernet connection to one device and the other would be able to share that connection via this cable.

Worked, but not for PS4 Pro...
This worked perfectly from my AVR (Denon X3400H) to my Samsung TV (QN82Q6F), my UHD BD player (Magnavox MBP6700) to my AVR for full UHD resolution (3840 × 2160) at 60p at YUV 4:4:4 in full HDR. Unfortunately, when using it from the PS4 Pro to the AVR, it would flicker and have handshaking issues and eventually just show "no signal" unless I turned off either Samsung "HDMI UHD Color" mode or Denon "Enhanced Mode" -- which is what would allow all the latest features; i.e. without those modes, it can only display YUV 4:2:0 or only at 30Hz. The solution I found -- which makes Monoprice and this feature rich and expensive cord look very bad -- is that I have to use the HDMI cord that the PS4 Pro came with. Which begs the question, after all the features and price of this cord, is the ones that Sony merely gives with the console superior? Should I be buying HDMI cords from them?!
In the end, 4 stars because it does end up working fully and perfectly from the receiver to the TV and my specific UHD BD player to the receiver...
