how thick is the hdmi cable?
A shopper
on Jan 4, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It depends on the length. The shorter the length the thinner it is. At 25' it is the thinnest HDMI cable I have found at about "1/4 thick. With this cable you just need to make sure you use the right ends for source and monitor.

Why no 3ft and 6ft lengths?
A shopper
on Dec 9, 2018
BEST ANSWER: This is an active cable, which means there is a signal booster chip inside the connector. You don't need signal boosters in a short length like 3ft or 6ft. You can buy a passive cable that supports the same HDMI standards.

Because it wouldn't make any sense. Short cables have relatively low loss, so there is plenty of link margin with short cables.

Does this pass through a 1" "smurf" conduit easily? 25' 3 90° bends
A shopper
on Oct 26, 2019
BEST ANSWER: It should - I have 1.5" pipe and it was dead easy going 15' with 3 90 degree bends. Assuming that a standard HDMI end fits and can glide through, there is nothing about the actual cord that should give you trouble - it is thin and quite malleable.

Both ends measure 21mm wide (8/10") at the widest point. If the inside diameter of the conduit is an inch, you should have 4 millimeters to spare.

Should be possible. Consider vacuuming a twine string from one of the conduit ends. Then you can pull the cable through via the string.

Monoprice 4K High Speed HDMI Cable 25ft - CL2 In Wall Rated 10.2Gbps Active Black (Select, 2)
BEST ANSWER: DynamicView uses the next generation "RedMere" active HDMI chipset, HT8181. "RedMere" was the name that originally developed the chipset that Monoprice used in the cables. A few years ago a company called Spectra7 bought RedMere, so "RedMere" is no longer used to describe the cable. DynamicView uses latest "RedMere" chipset, HT8181. DynamicView is an active cable with the HT8181 chipset, which is the latest version of the active cable chipset formerly known as Redmere. This also supports the HDMI 2.0 spec, 4k@60Hz, 18Gbps, YUV 4:4:4 Chroma sampling.

What is the difference between HOSS Installer Grade Active and DynamicView Active? Would it work reliably at 40ft run with 4k dolby vision ?

Monoprice 4K High Speed HDMI Cable 25ft - CL2 In Wall Rated 18Gbps Active Black (DynamicView)

Monoprice 4K High Speed HDMI Cable 35ft - CL3 In Wall Rated 18Gbps Active Black (HOSS)
BEST ANSWER: Thanks for your question.
Both Hoss and DynamicView would support 4k Dolbyvision reliably at 40ft. Both cables will do that currently at 50ft, and soon at 60ft.
Functionally, Hoss and DynamicView are the same
The difference is in the physical construction of the cable. HOSS is thicker and DynamicView is thinner at shorter lengths with a thinner outer diameter on the cable.
If you are looking for a thinner cable, DynamicView is the one you want. If you appreciate a big thick cable, HOSS is it.
Both cables carry the latest active chipset from Spectra7, HT8181, and will support HDR video, 4k@60Hz, 18Gbps and 4:4:4 color sampling up to 50ft today and soon to longer lengths.
Thanks!

BEST ANSWER: Hi, I only use mine between a 4k player and the tv and it works well in that capacity. Did you have this issue before using another HDMI or is this your first HDMI cable out from your PC? You might check your audio settings on your PC to see if it's configured for stereo or 2.1. You may have the option to output multi-channel. Sometimes, you can't output certain multi-channel because of copyright issues.

BEST ANSWER: You can, however it would be best if you used #12 bare wire pushed through 1st and then wrap the bare wire around the end of the hdmi cable to pull it through. You should not have to apply any pressure. You will not be able to fish it through by itself. It will ball up in the first bend. You can also use a fish tape if you have one.

Thank you for the quick response. I forgot to say that I will be using AVR as source and LCD TV as display. So
signal chain would be coming from the Denon AVR to TV. I have heard that you need the TV as the source and AVR be the display for active cables to work with ARC. But I have also learned that AQ cables have ethernet built in and are bidirectional.

The Source end of the cable should be connected to the AVR and the TV end of the cable should be connected to the display. eARC is used when sending Atmos-enabled audio from the display's embedded streaming apps like Netflix for example. eARC is also used for sending LPCM audio from a connected device like a Blu-ray player when it's connected to the display. You should have a input selection on your AVR that says something like TV Audio and that's the input you would use when watching and listening to Netflix from the display's Netflix app. Bottom line, always connect the cable as indicated, Source to the audio/video source and the TV end to the display.

Are these Bi-Directional? Do they have ethernet built in for passing a return signal back to a receiver from the display? Similar To the other higher end HDMI manufactured cables?

Will this DynamicView 50' cable support 4096x2160 resolution (not just 3840x2160)? I'm looking only for Monoprice staff to answer this question. If it does not, what Monoprice cable does?

BEST ANSWER: it's not the cable that determines the resolution. It's the video card and the display that determines what resolution you can display.

Which cable would you recommend for a 35ft run through ceiling.? Connecting a xbox one x to a Samsung Q6F.

What are the dimensions of the head of this cable. I need a cable that is 15mm or smaller to fit behind the tv into the wall in a conduit then make a 90 degree turn down to the receiver. All behind the wall. It is less than 10 ft. Will this work? If not, does Monoprice have any other hdmi cables for an Oled hdr 10 tv?

Had this for an in-wall installation but, unfortunately, the end does not reach hdmi inputs on my tv. Tried an HDMI coupler with a regular high speed hdmi cable but no picture or sound, however the player is recognized by the tv.
Is there any workaround for extension? Thx.

Ive not installed this cable yet but I purchased it to replace another product purchased from amazon. Monoprice, quality and service is worth worth it. Over the years Ive purchased many cable types that have worked flawlessly. I anticipate the same thing here.

Excellent cable that does exactly what I should.
One 25' run from my Onkyo AVR and another 25' run from my HTPC, both to an Epson 5050ub. Both cables handle 4K/60/HDR flawlessly and input changes are relatively snappy at only a few seconds delay. I was considering optical HDMI but I'm glad I opted for these at a fraction of the price.

Great Cables
Great cables at any price. Even better at this price. They are flexible enough to route where needed and can easily be secured out of the way.

Working, but cheap connectors
The cables seem to work ok so far, but the connectors are lose. They barely hold so am being careful if any equipment needs to move so that the ends don't become disconnected. I'm tired of overpaying for cables and thought these might save some bucks. They did, but not sure this is the answer.

These cables meet the specs
I successfully ran 4K 60Hz HDR through these with stability. That's what the specifications say they should do and they do it. :-
