BEST ANSWER: Yes, however it does not require it. The Galaxy S5 will charge with a regular micro USB cable as well as a micro USB 3.0 cable. This is only required to use USB 3.0 data transfer to the phone.

The micro USB 3.0 B plug is used by the Samsung Galaxy S5 though you can also use a standard USB 2.0 micro USB plug to charge.

BEST ANSWER: The Monoprice Select USB 3.0 ... uses 32AWG wires to provide a thinner and more flexible cable. Although the published specs don’t say it the other one probably uses 28AWG or even 24.
The benefit to the thinner cable is greater flexibility; however that may come at the cost of strength and resilience. I’m sure Monoprice Tech Support will be able to give you a better answer.

#13572 appears to have slightly thicker cable. The connectors and specifications appear to be identical should both function identically.

Is it possible to find USB 3.0 Type-A to Micro Type-B cables in any color other than black? I've looked all over. There is one brand that makes the cables in assorted colors, but they're flat for some reason, only come in one length, look cheap, and you can only get them on eBay. Another makes only blue cables. You can get expensive orange ones made for cameras. I have four or five WD drives. Assorted cable colors would help a lot when I have to swap them out. Thanks!

Good old cable
Remember when some devices had a special version of micro B connector to support USB 3.0? Well, here it is, ready to support your almost obsolete device. The USB 3.0 micro B connector has been essentially completely replaced by the USB C interface.

It's been awhile since I bought USB 3.0 cables here, they updated the design. My old ones still work (a few years old) and the new ones are working well so far. I ordered some extra because they are a low price.
