is there a spec sheet? what are the thicknesses of the insulated wires & overall cable?
Steven S
on Mar 10, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Steven,
Overall thickness is between 0.26-0.30".
Insulated wires are between 0.041"-0.045"
There is also a bare grounding wire that measured .0195"
A standard RJ45 connector will not work. You'll need to find shielded (CN1-022-8C6AS) connector for CAT6, CAT6A, CAT7 solid & stranded cable.
Overall thickness is between 0.26-0.30".
Insulated wires are between 0.041"-0.045"
There is also a bare grounding wire that measured .0195"

Oh man, this is crazy thick. The housing and wire thickness are such that you cannot fit it inside anything but a keystone jack, and even that takes effort. Don't get me wrong, it's excellent cable. But it is stiff (which can be a mild advantage when running it through an existing wall), and it will come as somewhat frustrating when you go to attach an end to it and cannot put a cat-6 patch cable end on it... and then realize you have to go and buy a few more cables before the job is done.

Thickness of the inner wire is labeled as 23 awg, but I had a hell of a time terminating it with regular cat6 rj45's, it was almost like the shielding was extra thick as well. This cable is stiff! I found the Platinum tools ez-ex48 rj45's worked great. A little more $, but worth it because they make it so easy.

I'm having the same issue and have gone through several different RJ45 jacks with no luck. Could you provide a product ID on monoprice for the jacks you used? I was looking at these: https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=34415
Don't know of the spec sheet, but can tell you that this wire is very thick and is not pliable. The internal wires are thick enough that you cannot use a cat5E punch or keystones; you will have to buy specific keystones

Looking for the appropriate CAT6A RJ45 connector for this item. I've tried many rated for 23AWG cable (as listed) and none seem to fit with this cable. Any recommendations for appropriate CAT6 shielded keystone jacks that work well with this cable?

BEST ANSWER: For 23AWG cables, I've found the easiest solution is to use pass through RJ45 plugs - they have to be terminated with a special crimper that also cuts off the extra cable. These also have the advantage that you can verify the cable order is correct and ensure the leads go all the way to the end of the plug (after termination).

Is this actually UL listed?
A shopper
on Jun 17, 2022
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it is. The cable is stamped with a UL logo and the box notes that is is UL certified. I’ll admit the “UL certified” is a bit odd, but you can’t put the UL mark on the cable unless it’s listed.

What is the maximum temperature that this cable is rated for? I plan on running it in an attic to support wired PoE security cameras.

Why isn't this cable rated for 6a? It appears to meet the frequency, foil wrap, and wire gauge specs.

This Cat6 is a as good as rated. Even though is thicker that a usual Cat5e or the Cat6 UTP, it does provide extra shielding for network cable run on attics were a lot of electrical cable runs, does not get affected by EMF from light fixture as the Cat5e. It is as thick as RG6 and probably as heavy. Work patiently when punching it.
