Hey guys,
I'm just wondering if when a micro SD is inserted into the USB slot in this device, is this device still able to be plug into a USB slot of a PC and subsequently able to read it as well?
Cheers

BEST ANSWER: If the SD card is formatted in a way that can be read by windows (eg. Fat32). Then when you plug the adapter into the computer it will read the SD card.

will this work with a i pad air ?
BEST ANSWER: All iPhone and iPad devices currently use the proprietary Apple Lighting Cable. This is a USB 2.0/3.0 Type-A and Type-C Connection Only. I would suggest if you need storage, there are Portable Wireless External Hard Drives that offer the ability to store and share data from mobile devices (Laptops, phones and tablets). Adapters for Lighting to USB are available, but not in readily supply and not very reliable. Monoprice does not carry and Lighting to USB adapters and I don't expect them to now that Apple will be changing to the more common standard USB Type-C in future products.

Does it suppose UHS-II MicroSD cards at UHS-II speeds?
BEST ANSWER: I believe that function is performed by the host. So if the host port is fast, and the library is there for the software to read the port and the host can handle i/o at such speeds. I have 128 xc 1 class 3 100 MB/s and it goes through the card quickly.

Instruction for use?
BEST ANSWER: Get it out of the packaging, stick a micro SD card into the lip of the Big Old USB-A side.
Now insert it into either an old USB-A port or a modern USB-C port (not both at once!) and the memory card will show up as a drive, to let you copy files to and from.
If it doesn't show up, make sure you put the micro SD card in all the way, and the right way up.
There's a little slider that helps you get the card out, should you need it.

Great performance, but perplexing design.
Fast transfer with a UHS-1 card, and this is the first USB-A/USB-C 3.0 combo reader I know of, so kudos to Monoprice for that. Unfortunately it doesn't hold up very well to the rigors of being on a keychain in-pocket. The little clip with the tie-through loop is ill-suited to having a quick-release lanyard attached, and this broke off within a month. Looping the mini-lanyard through the silicone protector caused that to start tearing.
I'd suggest a redesign of the plastic to just give one strong loop through which a mini-lanyard can tie-through, and including one in the package would be a nice touch too. It would also be better to make the microSD bay spring-loaded, as the little orange switch on the bottom is easily moved inside someone's pockets. The silicone protector keeps the microSD from falling out, but it's not perfect. It is essential, though, because it does a good job of keeping dust out of the USB-A connector. Also the black plastic on the rim of the USB-C connector has begun to crack off, though I don't think that will affect usage.
PROS: Fast transfer speed
Versatile
Future-proof
CONS: Not very durable

Exactly as described
This is a great little device. It does exactly what it was intended for. Highly recommend if you want to transfer stuff from computer to USB Type C device.
PROS: Small
Handles 64GB microSD card no problem
Recognized by Nexus 6P (Had to format first though)
CONS: The cover isn't very strong, a little too easy to open.

LifeSaver
5/5
PROS: This device works as expected. You install a Mini-SDCARD and you cannot see it is there. It is very fast.
CONS: The rubber covering the Type-A connector seems flimsy to where it could break with normal wear and tear.

Too big
It works properly but since it doesn't have a small lip where the connection is, it is too big for the opening on phone cases.

Good, tiny, perfect for going between PCs & a Mac
Works very well, is tiny, has a tiny clip for attaching to things so it doesn't get lost (and I tiny eye you might thread something threw) is perfect for working on files needing to be run between a PC and a Mac laptop with minimal fuss.
