BEST ANSWER: Yes it should It has adjustable brackets for the back of the tv and I have my 55inch hanging on it just fine until I get my 75inch tv.

I've read that #12986 has a broad range of VESA mount capability. My TY (Panasonic 54" plasma) has a 500 by 300 VESA pattern. Will #12986 accommodate that VESA pattern? I'm looking to mount the TV near a corner. I'm going to redo the wall behind the TV, and add 2x8 mounting boards between the studs, to provide flexibility in mounting. I'm considering this bracket, due to extension travel. Are there other brackets I should consider?

Solid performer
For a very reasonable price, I found this to be the solution I needed to mount an older (heavy) plasma TV set that had widely-spaced mounting points. Very happy with the unit.

Overall I'm satisfied
It surely is heavy-duty. It was fairly easy to put up, but it took 2 people as it is heavy. It could articulate down more for my taste, but it does just enough - the reason for 4 stars.

Great mount. Check the bolts.
Mounted my Sony 85" to the wall a few weeks ago. Seems to be working great. I hit two studs, and also put a few wall anchors in just to be safe. I can pull it out pretty far from the wall and adjust it without any concerns.
I would caution that you should check the tightness of all the bolts before you hang it. One of the bolts used to adjust the tilt was so loose I could spin it with my fingers. Once I had it on the wall, I adjusted everything to be level and then really tightened it all down before I hung the TV. Given the size of the TV this mount is made for, I really wouldn't want to have to adjust the tilt vertically or horizontally with the TV on it.

This is a heavy duty device for holding larger TVs. I have a very heavy 60" plasma TV and I feel comfortable utilizing this. It was easy to install. Installation is overhead and with a weight of the TV it is a little difficult to move around. It does allow for good excursion as well as left and right angulation.
