does it work like an extender ? can I hookup one side to my laptop and the other to a second adapter and project my computer image to a tv?

BEST ANSWER: No, this is a network adapter so that you can plug a network cable with an RJ45 connector into your computing device that has a USB-C port. At least that's what I bought it for. If you want to connect your computer to a TV you'll need to figure out what video-in ports your TV supports (probably HDMI, or DVI or DisplayPort, and maybe RCA?) and then get a monitor adapter like that.

Are you sure you're asking this question on the right product? This connects a computer to a wired Internet/network connection. Slimmer computers have no large full size USB ports (but have the smaller USB-C) and no network ports, so you need an adapter like this to plug a network cable into your computer.

BEST ANSWER: Yes, I have used it on two different laptops running Windows 10. One is a Lenovo Yoga 370 plugging directly into a USB-C port. The other is an older ASUS laptop with only USB-A ports, so I used a USB-C female to USB-A male adapter added onto this Ethernet adapter and it worked perfectly.

Yes. It works with the late 2016 MacBook Pros and Windows PCs. I haven't tried it with the 12 inch MacBook. I haven't tried it with USB-C/USB 3.1 Gen 1, in other words the 5Gbps version of USB-C. I believe the Apple Late 2016 MBP ports support Gen 2 -- as does my Dell XPS 15 9550.

I have not been able to confirm this adapter properly sends and receives 9,000 byte jumbo frames, but some type of jumbo frame support is exposed through Realtek's driver for Windows 10.

I am attempting to use this adapter with a brand new 2019 16in MacBook Pro running macOS Catalina 10.15.4 and my computer is not recognizing the adapter at all. What steps can I take to make this work? It is working on a separate 2017 15in MBP, but not the 2019 MBP.

From the images, it looks like there are no indicators, nor a link light, is that correct?

I would like to use my Nokia 7.2 to speed test my internet over ethernet cable (not wifi). Will this device serve that purpose?

USB-C to Ethernet and back
It works like a charm when I need to connect my laptop to the router with a physical wire, like the old days.

My HP laptop doesn't have an Ethernet port
Since my HP laptop doesn't have an Ethernet port, and only two USB ports, this adapter gives me the ability to have a wired connection to my router and make use of the otherwise useless USB-C port.
(I tried to use the USB-C port to connect another monitor, but the poor design of the HP laptop doesn't support monitors connected to the USB-C interface.)

USB-C to ehternet adapter is a great performer.
Durable, rugged, reliable, inexpensive. Our field technicians use these daily. We are not kind to them so we are able to replace them easily.
