Is this a hdmi connection for the computer and a vga connection for the monitor?

BEST ANSWER: No, this is not HDMI connection to the computer. This is DisplayPort 1.2a to computer. DisplayPort is not the same as HDMI.

Where HDMI has two curved notches, DisplayPort only has one, straight notch, as well as a slightly larger connector. If you want to use this over HDMI, you should look elsewhere. However, if your computer has a DisplayPort output, this willgive you much better results than an HDMI adapter.

will this work with analog vga?

BEST ANSWER: Not sure what you are asking as I thought all vga was analog . This works to connect our computers with display ports to our projectors which have vga. Seems to connect and transmit the image just fine. We are using windows 10 pro and there was a one second flicker the first time we plugged everything together, but then the computer settled down and the image was fine on the projector.

Nice DisplayPort to VGA adapter for VGA only displays. I am also getting a DisplayPort Hub so I can have dual monitor capabilities.

It doesn't work
That's all. It simply doesn't work. For me anyway... Might have something to do with the Dell D6000 docking station that I'm trying to use for dual monitors.
