BEST ANSWER: I'd imagine so, it's more about wether you have the appropriate output connectors on the computer but it should work just fine.

Will this adapter provide sound out for a macbook pro (2009)? My present adapter does not, and online it generally says that this mac's minidisplay adapter does not output sound. If not, what is the appropriate adapter or one that will work?

BEST ANSWER: I’m 90% sure that in the 2010 models Apple introduced Sound output through the mini display port. So use a different cable 1/8 inch to do sound and maybe a mini display to vga for the Video.

what is the difference between 12795 and 12742, other than size, price and DP 1.2a. I have a couple of the other 12742 ones in white and I really do like the slim new design. both are passive so I guess one could be certified higher?
Last time I was here I picked up one of the active ones and it didn't work with all of my devices, not always detected, reduced resolution output.

Almost a must-have for a Microsoft Surface Pro owner
I got this when it went on sale for nearly 50% off and I appreciated that Monoprice had such deals on already reasonably-priced products. I got this so that I could connect my Surface Pro to an external monitor, and it does the job.

It works
I got this to use with a Macbook. The previous adapter worked, but somehow creates interference that killed the wifi when it was active. I got this adapter as a replacement with the hope that it wouldn't have the same issue (it does).

Cable worked perfectly and well packaged
As always, Monoprice quality and service. The cable comes in a resealable study bag which is a nice bonus. Connection was sound and cable is sturdy.
