I have used it successfully with an AppleTV 2. We set this up so we could do wireless presentation (Keynote, Powerpoint, etc.) It works fine for that. I have played a few TV/movie previews from the iTunes store, which played fine. However, I have not attempted to play a full purchased movie or TV show. We are running 1024x768 resolution on an older projector. HDCP could be an issue at higher resolutions or with purchased content, I don't know (yet). But for AirPlay presentations it works just fine.

Probably not since Apple TV probably uses HDCP. This does NOT strip HDCP.

Yes, that is what it is designed to do. Most converters up-convert from vga to hdmi. This one down converts. There can be some issues if the receiving monitor or other device can't support the resolution being thrown to it, so it may require you to dumb down the resolution output to the sending HDMI port. This is a common thing that you run in to. To truly convert full res. HDMI to a lower resolution without dumbing down your output is to use a scaler in between devices.

No, HDCP will not allow that conversion. You need a specific hdmi-component converter.

Yes but this splitter does not do any image processing, so the signal sent to both displays will be identical in resolution and other spec. So if both your TV and your VGA monitor can handle the same signal, you should be good.

Yes, but it does not strip HDCP so if you're watching HDCP protected content, this will not work for you. You need another device to do that.

We have used it successfully at 1024x768 resolution. It is probably up to your projector settings to get the correct aspect ratio. 1024x768 is not normally a "wide screen" resolution, but as far as I can tell that has nothing to do with the adapter itself.

Monoprice HDMI to VGA Kit
Monoprice HDMI Extender Using Cat5e or CAT6 Cable, Extend Up to 98ft
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question. It would not be recommended to extend from a converter. The added resistance on the signal could cause handshaking issues or cause too weak of a signal output. It would be best to use a powered converter or a more powerful extender such as our external powered HDBaseT extenders but it could possibly still run into issues. We do offer a 30 day return policy and you can return it should you try it out and it does not work.
Should you require additional assistance, please reach out to our technical support team with a detailed question via any of the methods available here:

VGA connectors are all the same so if it will not connect the problem would have to be that your projectors have different connectors.
You would likely need an HDMI to DVI adapter.

I am looking to use ONLY the HDMI to VGA converter. It will be used for a Raspberry Pi configuration that feeds video from a RPv4 with 2 microHDMI ports. The kit already has two Micro HDMI to HDMI cables, so I only want to buy the HDMI to VGA converter. Is that possible and do you know if it will work with RP used for VGA TV display boards? Thank you.

Hello
I have and older gateway tower but sold the monitor that came with it.
I have a laptop and a TV and tried using an HDMI to VGA adapter thinking it would show on my TV or laptop but its not working. I would like to go through my old computer and wipe it clean before just recycling it.
Any suggestions on how I can view the content on my old computer?

Converting HDMI to VGA may be hard.
The audio connector in first adapter broke, but this was mostly to my rough treatment and frequent use as the adapter is on my desk and I moved the earphones from device to device a lot. But, there was always an audible hum in my and my listener's ears.
The second adapter had the same hum but caused the monitor's image to be yellowed and streaked.
I have a third adapter (bought two on my second order) but haven't used it as I am now using an external docking unit to make my multiple monitor setup.
This HDMI to VGA adapter might be better served in an environment that does not require audio to be pulled from it.
