As below using RJ-45 pin numbering: 1 - White 2 - Brown 3 - Yellow 4 - Green 5 - Red 6 - Black 7 - Orange 9 - Blue For the most common RS-232 wiring it will be (on the DB-9) pin-2 Red, pin-3 Green, pin-5 White. This is a crossover wiring (Tx -> Rx, Rx -> Tx)
Have used them in the past and they were high quality...
Have used this same product from MONOPRICE for a few years with no issues. Generally purchase them 1K / 2K .. Have not received this order yet because MONOPRICE delayed shipping because they were short about 2% of the pieces that I had ordered and didn't bother to tell me for a couple weeks.
I have a 32-port serial hub that has ethernet connections on the front of the hub. I needed DB9/RJ-45 adapters to connect bluetooth wireless serial port adapters to this hub using ethernet cables. These DB9/RJ-45 adapters are just what I needed. I control my tv, blu-ray player and dvd players with my laptop using bluetooth wireless. I recommend these adapters.
PROS: Once I figured out the pin configuration between ethernet and DB9, these adapters were easy to use.
I rechecked all of the wires, none of them were broken and all of them are in the correct holes. Tried connecting to a router and a switch with both a straight though and a crossover cable. Product still doesn't work. I will find another product that has been tested before delivery. My CCNA exam is next week and I don't have time to play return and retry.
I was happy when I found the wiring diagram linked to this item. I inserted the pins in order. One of the wires must have pinched/broke when I was pressing the parts together. Doesn't work. Back to getting up every time I need to change the console cable between devices.
The adapter and price (less than 1/10th of C2G) are excellent! Unfortunately I had to use my time to meter the pins to determine the pinout. found that the colors match C2G pinouts. here is what I found on mine
RJPIN color
1 blue
2 orange
3 black
4 red
5 black
6 yellow
7 brown
8 white
PROS: works, standard parts
CONS: no wiring diagram with product or on website.
Beware: get the pins in right the first time. You'll damage them if you try to remove and replace them. This is not a con it means the pins stay in on their own, which is necessary.
If you need to experiment with the pins, you can carefully plug them into the female DB-9 before placing them in the hood.
Also helpful are these: 1203 m-f null modem, 1204 f-f null modem, 1184 male-male adapter, 1186 f-f adapter.
PROS: Eliminates soldering of DB-9 connectors. Easy to use. Standard color-coding of RJ45 pins.
CONS: The males don't come in black. The females do. What's up with that?
We use these adapters to connect an RJ45 serial data connection to a 9 pin serial port. Easy to use and even move pins if you configure it incorrectly. The price is great for these. I looked elsewhere online and these are as high as $7+. Monoprice does it right again.
I purchased these DB9 to RJ45 adapters for integrating Point of Sale cash register systems with my DVR systems. The modular pins work great and are easy to insert into the back of the DB9 pin in any configuration you need.
