PoE?
A shopper

BEST ANSWER: This is not a network switch. It is a patch panel that redirects the cables to make a rack look cleaner. That being said, yes you can use poe connections on it.

We have PoE cams and a/ps coming into this patchbay with the corresponding ports plugged into a switch that provides PoE and it works perfectly.

It does not provide PoE but it does support PoE. For context this is a patch panel not a network switch.

Doesn't matter. It's a patch panel.

What is the recommended grounding point for STP drain wire on this panel?
A shopper
on Oct 10, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Drain wires go to ground. The green/yellow wire that comes attached to this panel should be bonded to ground, usually the rack, but your rack needs to be bonded to ground in that case. If push comes to shove, use an approved adapter to get it into the ground hole on a nearby electrical receptacle. If none of this makes sense, hit up a licensed electrician.

I ran it to my server cabinet. Most have several grounding posts. The cabinet itself should be run to a main ground.

BEST ANSWER: Shielded vs un-shielded would be my best answer. Shielded cable & proper grounding are important if you have a lot of emf in your area (motors/furnaces/radio waves/industrial machinery/magnetic doors locks), to prevent cross-talk.

so far no problem, I think because one of the patch cords going to the Netgear splitter is flashing yellow and I don't know why.

Pack a LOT of Network Into a SMALL Space
We have an ever-growing and ever-expanding LAN, and we were outgrowing our rack space at a fast pace. These Half-U patch panels are just the ticket to help us compress the hardware footprint and continue our network growth.
The build quality is very good, so we can move forward with confidence.

Easy to add more cable
I like the orientation of the punch down as it is easy to add more cables. Watch out for the blocks, do not use your 110 tool as these requires a Krone blade!

Easy to install
Ordered this a while ago and finally got it installed, so quick and well designed. Would have been nice to have color labels in 2-3 places instead of one for wiring but that is a pretty minor complaint. Otherwise the easiest patch panel no confusion and wires up very quickly. I would order again.

Constant Problems
This has got to be the worst product I have bought from Monoprice. The worst part about it is I did not isolate my problems to this component until after I was out of warranty. If I could return this I would. There are just too many problems from this component to ignore. I have constant errors trickling on most of the lines running through this panel. I am going to spend the additional money required to get a better and problem free panel.
PROS: Cheap
CONS: Punch down blocks not soldered to boards.
Jack contacts fatigue and fail to make contact after first insertion.
Intermittent failures and constant errors on lines.

This is a pretty good panel, especially for the price. It's 1/2U, which means that there's not exactly a ton of room for labels if you need anything more than the included numbering. There's a bit of room on the ears, and that's about it.
The punchdowns are squared off instead of pointed, so if you like to push the twist over the point to really maintain it, you're out of luck. The clamps that hold on the cover are a little cheap and weird, but not really concerningly so, especially for the price.
The only major issue is that it seems like the housing was painted after the screw holes for the cable clamps were tapped. I wound up stripping about 6 or 8 screw heads over the course of 3 panels. I think there are a few extra included, (didn't use every single port, so not 100% on that) so not an enormous issue, but still kind of a pain.
PROS: Slim
Cheap
Cat 6
Shielded
CONS: Cable clamps have issues
Not much room for labels
Punchdowns are square instead of pointy.

Nice and tight
Nice construction. Very slim. Enabled me to install more in a tight closet. Speeds test @ 1000Mbps. works nicely with stranded and solid wire. One locking clip came broke, but the other one is in-tacked. I would definitely buy again
PROS: slim
inexpensive
Solid construction
