BEST ANSWER: Yes, the controls on the unit will let you change the temperature and cook time. With the app its a bit easier. I have 2 units each one of them had some issues with wifi connectivity, the customer help was helpful in replacing both and the replacements connected with ongoing good function. I have been using them for about 4 months and happy with them, except for the replacement part.

Definitely. It’s easy to set temp and time directly on the device; that’s what I usually do even when using the app, which I usually just use to check on time remaining.

Is the wifi connection finicky? I'm having the hardest time connecting. 2.4 ghz. Press button until it beeps and flashes blue. Etc..

I've not experienced this with my 2 Monoprice units but have with my anova. Hopefully you've tried this but...
Unplug unit, wait 5 minutes. Make sure your WiFi signal is good (your phone should show this). Then replace circulater. Enter temp and time, press start button.

Is there a way to reset this device? Mine won't connect with wifi and it asks me to reset it but doesn't give accurate instructions to do so.

My unit shuts off during warmup every few minutes. I'm constantly hitting the "play" button on the device or on the app to keep it going. Once it is cooking and using the timer, this doesn't seem to happen anymore. I've made two things so far and they came out really well, but the warmup process takes forever because I can't just leave it. Do I have a bad device or am I doing something wrong?

The temperature just reset itself 25 degrees higher! Killed 4 quarts of half and half and probiotics for yogurt. Has this happened to anyone?
I know that Stitch doesn't work at all...Will not connect to app or wifi in either of 2 configuration options but now the manual setting is also unreliable?

Heats fast and easy to use.
Heats very quickly. Buttons are easy to use. I have not tried the app.

It works. Does everything my old Anova does and costs half as much. Per the specs it should even heat up the water faster than my old anova, although I didn't test this. And I have not tested the wifi features. My only knock on this device is the feedback noise/beep. It's like being screeched at any time you press a button. Which I suppose I can live with.

Works well (Don't use the app)
This works well and isn't too noisy. It makes a stirring sound but nothing annoying. It heats water quickly and easy to use controls on the device.
The cons are around the APP and WiFi connection. It can only use 2.4ghz and it is a PAIN to connect. I repeated the not so clear instructions 5-6 times before it connected.
The APP itself is currently a glorified control. The icons for cooking various items have nothing in them. It does control the device but do not expect to program steps and save them here or use anything preset as they do not exist.
Buy it if you want a good quality Sous Vide with plenty of power for a low price. Do not buy it and expect a good app.

Fantastic piece of kitchen tech. I have owned the original Anova, the anova nano and the joule. So far, this monoprice strata 1100 blows the others away. It cost significantly less and works significantly better. It is quieter and quicker to heat up. The construction is sturdy and the temperatures are consistent. I use my sous vide almost every day so hopefully it will hold up over time.

Great unit, poor app
Great unit, seems well-constructed. Have only used it once so far but found it easy to operate. Would give 5 stars but it was *impossible* to pair with the app, either via wifi or via Bluetooth.

Much improved
Very easy operation and whisper quiet. Very stable temperature control....maintained 4 gallons of without variation for hours. Much better than my earlier, 800W version.

Works meh
Setting up the device via wifi is very convenient, but also a bit flaky - in the app selecting time and temperature is very touchy and also making sure that the device is programmed doesn't let you know that it's cooking or not as 2 hours went by before I noticed the device itself wasn't cooking and the wifi said it was.
