Can you connect two monitors to this dock both via the HDMI and VGA ports to run 2 monitors as extended display (not cloning)?

BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question.
With this adapter, you will not be able to utilize both HDMI and VGA outputs simultaneously. You will only be able to output to one display while connected.
If both display outputs are connected, the adapter will default to an HDMI output as the primary.

I have a mobile monitor I'd like to connect to something like this and display to the monitor with a USB-C cable, as well as power the monitor because it doesn't need much to work.
Will the USB-C ports provide power passthrough, AND display to a monitor? Can I plug in a USB-C cable for additional power in the second USB-C port? Thanks!

Kills Macbook Pros, Poor after-sales support
The power output from these devices is frying our brand new MacBook pros. We bought 50 to use with our interactive displays and we've had to return 8 of our macbooks so far.
Our lenovo laptops just give a constant "connect/disconnect" sound in windows as well while they're plugged in.
I tried to get monoprice to help us with this but they take forever to respond and will not escalate to a manager. They claim they can't even call my phone number from Phillippines or wherever their tech is from.
We're out thousands of dollars now because of these docks.
Also they don't have HDCP support.

works well
Delivery service and substitution for a defect was exemplar!
The device, as others I've tested doesn't seem to sustain both 4k hdmi and 100Mb network traffic for a prolonged period, it gets hot and some of the inputs might stop working.
As long as you avoid such continual usage it's a quality solution for traveling with your new macbook!

actually passes through the power!
I have purchased and discarded several USBc hubs that claimed to pass through power because they really dont. If you have a non-pro macbook with a 65 watt power supply then most anything will probably work, but if you have a 15 macbook pro then you have an 85 watt power supply and finding a hub that operates at that level is incredibly difficult. Even some others that claimed to do so still register themselves as only la 60 watt power supply once you connect through them so your battery will slowly drain if youre using the processor very hard. This device actually shows that I get the full power output of my power supply when connected through it. And all the other ports work as well. If you need to pass through the full 85 watts of a macbook pro power supply then this is the device to get! Additionally it has a second USB C Data port which is almost unheard of so far. Most other hubs only have the power passthrough and a coupe of USB3 ports. This actually has a second USBC Data port! So you can plug in a USB C accessory to it as well as the power supply. Youd have to pay 4x as much to get any other device that can do that. If they put it in an aluminum enclosure instead of cheap feeling plastic it would be 6 stars, alas its cheap plastic. My only other complaint is that the built in cord is too short. Just give me a USBC plug and Ill use my own cable thank you, no need to build it in.

Looks good, but failed within a day
It started working great, but the USB-A ports failed while backing up the computer, and thus the backup failed. I am reported this to customer service to see whether they will send a replacement or a refund.

My favorite adapter (and I've tried a lot of them...)
I've tried individual USB-C to X port dongles and multi-port adapters for travel with my USB-C MacBook Pro. I just received this one and so far it's my favorite. It has all the ports I need, it's very light weight and offers a compact form factor. The integrated, flat USB-C cable that plugs into the Mac means no separate USB-C cable to manage. Hence, it makes the adapter even more convenient (as long as it's convenient for you to keep the adapter within ~6" of your computer...). I'm using one of the bigger adapters offered by Monoprice for my desktop setup at home; this one is going in my travel kit.
I haven't tried it with an HDMI monitor (or VGA) yet, but so far, I'm happy.
