Will these cable work fine for ADAT applications? I really believe any Toslink cables would be, but I am dealing with tech support from a certain audio company that swears that is not the case and these cables are a problem. They believe cables need to be "rated" ADAT capable. I am hoping to find some documentation somehow that proves these are okay for ADAT applications.
I replaced a thin black practically invisible 30' Hosa with this 35' Mono for my recording studio and now I'm not nearly as worried about it getting stepped on or tangles up in musicians feet. My headphone rig (ADAT to Headphone Amp) moves to wherever it's needed so getting stepped on is a potential problem. Not only is this optical cable tough, but it sounds better than my old one. I wasn't expecting that. It locked into my devices nicely. I'm not here to review it (but as long as I'm here), but rather to get a second one. I don't need it but I want it. You can't beat the price.
Honestly, they were too good. These, in a 1.5' form, I found to be a bit bulkier than I wanted to deal with. The metal jacket on them keeps them from being very "maneuverable" in staying were you want them. They also are a bit heavy, in my opinion, to leave their weight hanging from your female connectors. I ended up not using them. That is not at all to say these are not good cables. I think, in a situation where a rugged cable is needed, they excel further than most I have ever seen. I would recommend the 3' at minimum just for flexibility.Overall great cable, but almost situational because of the armor and the bulk.
First Monoproce product and I couldn't be happier. Used this as an ADAT cable for studio equipment and the thickness compared to normal optical cables made me feel much better having it in a U shape. Has worked flawlessly giving me 8 recording tracks from the preamp to the interface without dropouts or artifacts. Bought two for a bidirectional data, and two for backups. For this quality and quantity at this price, even compared to Amazon's, I'll be shopping at Monoprice in the future!
I have to say, I was completely shocked at the build quality of these Toslink cables. Sure the pics looked cool but, the cables are even better in person. The thickness of the cable housing is more than I expected. The end pieces are milled out of solid aluminum blocks, I believe.
I bought these for interconnecting my audio interfaces in my portable recording rack. It's almost a shame they will never be seen!
Have never seen cable that appears like a high end product until this. Works flawlessly, just remove protective cover and plug it in. I needed to use a splitter, so purchased two of these. One goes to headset and the other goes to sound bar. business as usual!
