I bought this in 2014 but it was used very little until about four months ago. I plug my head phones in to it and it gets moved a couple times a day. Two days ago it started getting flaky. Now I have to bend the end and find the sweet spot to get both channels to work.
Bought this cable to extend computer speaker connection. Just need couple feet, but near computer case, other cables and LCD monitor.
It works but with loud noise in the speakers. If you touch the cable or move around, it changed to more loud or less. That means that cable inside not appropriately shielded — just two wire (LR) and simple loose naked wire used as a shield and the ground, 3dr wire, which is incorrect. (see the photo from actual cable) Proper EMI shield for such audio cable should cower the three wires ( twisted) and connected to the ground on one side (start/in point). As a result, this one collects all EMI noise as long antenna to both channels.
So it looks ok, flexible but useless. Do not recommend to use it near any EMI generating devices or power cables. Finally, I find old gold plated cable (probably purchased from the Monoprice, but a long time ago), and this one works fine. No noise.
