My first job out of college had me purchasing CAT5 cables in bulk and then terminating my own runs. I would spend hours in a day making my own patch cables at various lengths. As CAT5e and CAT6 have come along, the tolerances for building a good quality cable with minimal crosstalk have gotten more difficult. At first, I couldn't believe that such a thin cable would work, but so far, I'm very happy! I use these in a small server cabinet for patching servers into a network switch as part of a lab environment. They've tremendously cut down on the bulk of wires throughout. I even through one into my laptop bag so I never have to worry about having a cable when I travel to other offices! So far, performance has been solid with no bandwidth issues.
I am so used to standard thickness Cat6 cables that when I first discovered these I nearly crapped myself. Impossibly thin with absolutely ZERO drawbacks! As soon as I received my first set of these cables, I immediately ordered more to replace EVERY SINGLE standard thickness Cat6 cables in the house. Nothing else comes close to these cables! You have to hold them for yourself and give them a try to believe it!
Rock bottom price for really thin cables that work perfectly. Hooked one up and tested it against an older thick Cat6 cable and the speed was identical at 178mb (on a Shaw 150 plan!). Don't know about long term reliability as the individual cable must be extremely thin, but I suspect is you treat them gently and don't go tugging on them they should last a long time. So far I'm really happy with this purchase.
