    14-Watt (75W Equivalent) BR 40 LED Bulb, 1150 Lumens, Warm/ Soft (3000K) - Dimmable

Get a longer lasting, safe, and affordable alternative to standard BR40 light bulbs using this 14-watt BR40 LED Bulb from Monoprice!

This 120-volt bulb uses only 14 watts of power, but produces 1150 lumens of light energy at 3000K, equivalent to a 75-watt incandescent BR40 bulb. It uses the E26 "medium" Edison screw base, which is the standard home screw-in bulb type we're all used to.

This indoor bulb features a "flood" beam pattern and is 3.7" in diameter and 4.7" tall. It uses the Sanan SMD2835 chipset, is rated for up to 30,000 hours of use before failure, and carries a three year replacement warranty.

It generates light in the 3000K range with a Color Rendering Index greater than 80, which generates the kind of soft and warm feeling that is perfect for most home lighting needs. This bulb is fully dimmable without risk of damage to the bulb or a reduction in its expected life span.

Monoprice warrants these bulbs for a full THREE (3) YEARS and will provide a new replacement for any bulbs that fail due to defects in materials or workmanship during the warranty period.

this is advertised as a BR40 yet it says in description that it is "3.7" in diameter and 4.7" tall", which seems more like a BR30.

Can you please give me exact dimensions of bulb as I have 5" recessed lighting that is 5" tall?

    Wrong size
If you have an existing fixture requiring 3.7" diameter bulbs, these won't fit.

PROS: LED is the coming thing, and I'm sure these bulbs are fine

CONS: The ad continues to advertise them as having a 3.7" diameter, but they are actually much larger and didn't fit into my existing fixtures. Monorprice sent em a label to return them, which I did. I haven't yet received a credit on my card, but I assume it will come through soon. In the meantime, the erroneous description remains.

    Perfect replacement for incandescent BR40
I bought several and have used three thus far. They seems to produce the same amount of luminosity as the incandescent bulbs they replaced and are much, much better than the CFL which I had also used.

PROS: Perfect form factor & weight (vs. CFL)
    Plug 'n' play
    Apparent low power consumption
    Longevity (yet to be seen)

    CONS: Too Pricey

    Better than Incandescent
I just bought a house which is full of 6" recessed lights, and each one of them had a 120-watt bulb in it. Once those lights were on for more than 10 minutes, the heat they produced was almost unbearable. It was time to make the switch to LED.

I bought a bunch of these bulbs and put them throughout the house, across 5 different dimmers. One of these dimmers is an older style, and it causes the bulbs to make a high-pitched buzzing noise. I will replace this dimmer with one that supports LEDs, but it will be kind of annoying until then.

The 3000K temperature is *slightly* whiter than I would like, but it does provide extra visibility, compared to 2700K. I think 300K is ideal for work spaces, such as kitchens, workshops, and offices, because it provides extra visibility, but isn't quite in the "harsh" range of white light.

Overall, I am happy with my purchase. These were my first LED lights, and my experience has been so positive, that I'm now on a mission to replace all of the incandescent bulbs in my house with LEDs.

PROS: Bright - these things are brighter than I expected. Good thing I have dimmer switches.

Price - these lights are about 1/2 the price of what other retailers are selling them for.

CONS: 3000K color temperature is slightly "whiter" than I would like, but it's barely noticeable. (2700K would have been ideal)

Slight buzzing noise on one of my dimmers.

    Great Bulbs
If you need BR40 bulbs this is what you need.

PROS: Much brighter than my 65W traditional BR40 bulbs at only 15W. Color of white light is perfect. Doesn't have the blue LED color of light.

CONS: Listed as 3.7 inches in diameter. They are not. They are standard BR40 size (Not BR30).

    Very high quality LED Lamps
After looking all over the internet I found MONOPRICE'S product to have the best price. The LED Lamps are of much better quality that I found at a local "Big Box" at half the cost. Plus it was shipped right to my door in just a few days!

Actually, they were so bright I went ahead and installed a dimmer. Now I have full control and it worked out great!

PROS: Very high quality. Excellent brightness. Exceptional price. Dimmable

    CONS: None

Unfortunately their quality control on this product is marginal. I ordered 6 bulbs, and three were obviously opened packages and had some scuff marks so were likely used/trialed. We had to get the lights installed, so still used them and they worked (not sure of the longevity), but were not thrilled with the shipping of returned products.

    Response from Monoprice

Thank you for your review on PID 12158. I am truly sorry to hear about the condition that the three bulbs arrived in. New, unopened units should have been sent out instead. If I may ask, do you still have the packaging on hand? If so, is it possible to send me pictures of the issues so we can look into this matter further? My apologies again for any inconvenience and thank you in advance.

Nice and bright. Color temperature is a touch cooler than most, but I think it's a nice clean white light. Bought 11, no defects. Build quality seems nice.

    Great value and performance
I've purchased about 40 of these bulbs and they are great in every way.

    +Incredible light output
+Great QC: every single bulb I bought works great
+Consistent color: bulbs I bought months apart produce the same color temperature
+Works great with standard dimmers, can dim down to 1% without shutting off
    +Wide beam angle
+Performs in damp environments (above a shower)
+Traditional look: LEDs are not visible through lens, even when on

-Cost (but the quality is worth it)
-Color temperature not as warm as halogens
-Very slight turn on delay, "almost" instant-on

Guarantee could be longer given LED technology. Price is right. Stopped using any supplemental lighting in my office.

PROS: Bright white light and smoothly dimmable. Ordered 4 more for my wife's home-office.

    CONS: None so far.

Nice and bright and they don't radiate heat! Ordered more for the kitchen.

    PROS: Cool. Bright.
