Get a longer lasting, safe, and affordable alternative to standard incandescent downlights using this 9-watt 4-inch Recessed LED Downlight Trim from Monoprice!
This 120-volt light assembly uses only 9 watts of power, but produces 650 lumens of light energy at 3000K, equivalent to a 65-watt incandescent downlight.
This aluminum, indoor light assembly is 4.0" in diameter and 3.23" tall. It uses the LG SMD5630 chipset, is rated for up to 50,000 hours of use before failure, and carries a three year replacement warranty. The power factor is greater than 0.95.
It generates light in the 3000K range with a Color Rendering Index greater than 80, which generates the kind of soft and warm feeling that is perfect for most home lighting needs. This light is fully dimmable without risk of damage to the bulb or a reduction in its expected life span.
Monoprice warrants these bulbs for a full THREE (3) YEARS and will provide a new replacement for any bulbs that fail due to defects in materials or workmanship during the warranty period.

PROS: Frosted glass, smooth dimming, bright, wide light throw (essentially no longer recessed), quiet.
CONS: Not as recessed as the can traditional bulbs they replaced, lowest dimming setting more bright than traditional bulbs, painted trim is not high quality, maybe could be 'warmer' colored light.
PROS: Good color, turn on very quickly, look good in the ceiling
CONS: I have one out of six that would not work.
no hum when used with a dimmer switch
CONS: none so far!!!
PROS: Very good led light!
PROS: Super easy install. brightness is perfect and as advertised. I have them working with a Lutron dimmer and no problems.
CONS: My one gripe and its minor, if you have to remove them you have to be careful or you can loosen the recessed light can they sit it.
PROS: Nice quality so far. They look nice
CONS: May not dim as low as I'd like in my theater, but I don't have a digital Lutron switch in yet specifically designed for LED. (I have 8 of these and 1 Halogen bulb and I am using a Lutron Spacer switch)
Turns out the can was larger than 4" and had a 4" ring to step down the opening size. So I needed to mount this bulb to the ring, then snap the ring back into the can.
Unfortunately the fit between the ring and the bulb was impossibly tight because the three screw heads holding the retaining clips to the bulb stick out too far. I tried to remove the screws so I could replace them, but they were in so tight I could only get one out. I ended up filing the screw heads down a bit (hard metal), and filing three flat-bottomed grooves in the inside edge of the retaining ring (thin metal, so I could not go too deep).
Once I got the ring on the bulb the second issue was the stupid clips on the bulb, they stuck up too far and didn't grip the ring. Easy to fix, I just bent the clips down. However this would have been impossible if I were trying to mount this directly to the can, and not to a ring that comes out of the can.
Finally, after over an hour of messing about, I snapped the ring and blub assembly back into the can. Oh perfection! It's a wonderful bulb that looks and works great, but one point off for goofy non-standard screws with extra tall heads, and another point off for dumb clips. Tall screw heads and dumb clips may not affect some people.
PROS: Bright, clean light.
Low, low power.
CONS: Installing into existing can a problem because can design clashed with blub design. Also, retaining clips and kind of weird.
I noticed these do not come with any foam or rubber ring around the trim which used to come on all recessed lights to make a more air tight seal with the ceiling. I have ordered recessed lights from several sources now with different looks and none of them are coming the the foam washer ring except name brands like Halo. To tell you the truth, when there is a foam ring, I sometimes remove the foam when it makes the light look like there is a gap at the ceiling since you can't press it flush as long as that washer is there.
PROS: We ordered 50 of these. good light output, good color. the trim ring is cast aluminum so it's a little heavier than other brands of LED recessed lights where the trim ring is plastic.
CONS: Paint is a little uneven and thin in some spots especially near the edges. Most of them are okay and passable especially if you have high ceiling. About 3 of them were missing too much paint it was too thin and you could see the aluminum metal showing through. we didn't want to bother returning them so we sprayed them with a little white paint and they are fine. we should not have to do this, but this is what you should expect if you order these.
retaining clips are tight and the light itself is a little heavy compared to other brands due to the solid metal trim ring. If you want it to sit flush on the ceiling, you need to bend the clip tabs in a little to make it slide in easier and also get it more flush with the surface.
PROS: Inexpensive, quickly shipped, works perfectly.
CONS: Light quality is awful.
