See downloadable manual. Yes; lift off mount and untwist rear cover. Uses two CR123A 3V lithium batteries or USB supply via micro-USB port on rear cover. Extremely low Standby current, so command it to Off/Stdby when not needed, or use USB option. Not for outdoor use! No viration sensing, just motion. Magnet in above Specs should be Mount.

I don't understand the AP function. If it is not attached to my wifi and has to use its own hot spot, does that mean that unit will only notify my cell phone's APP if the cell phone is within the hot spot? I ask because I live on a farm that has only 5 mbps service with various outbuildings that I would like to cover that are not covered by wi fi. I can't afford to use much band width.
Keith K
on Aug 14, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes, that's what it means. If you use AP mode on any device, including this one, you must be within range of the device's 'hot spot' transmission area. The size of that area has to be determined by actual use, as it's dependent on several factors.

I use smartlife and ITFFF. I bought this motion sensor to try to keep a room light on when someone is present. Unlike SmartThings, it doesn't have "Presence no longer detected" (as in ITFFF trigger) and the smart rule doesn't have "turn off after N seconds. I could not in anyway delay turning off the light unless the person is constantly moving. So light is off when the person is stationary for a few sec. Monoprice, you are the only one carrying a motion sensor for SmartLife. (Those on Amazon are junk - never detects motion correctly.) Can you tell me how to make use of this as a room presence detector?
(I don't want to mess with whatever app STITCH provides, which I believe is also based on smartlife or Tuya).

Home normally? This is not for you.
Works just fine, but there is no home or away option on app so if you want to be notified every time you pass it while home will work great for you. But if you want something to automatically Start notifying you after you leave home Then this is not the item for you until they fix the app.

STITCH false motion alarm
Picks up motion in a pretty good area but sends continuous "tamper alarms" at random intervals Unit is securely mounted and back cover also secure. Not really happy but for what I use it for (motion in basement) it works. I would not buy it again because of the false tamper alarms.

Difficult to connect, but functional
Google Home would not recognize the PIR sensor through the STITCH app. The device needed to be added through the SmartLife app instead. There wasn't a category for PIR WiFi sensor in SmartLife, but it could be added through AP mode (Directions Below) That being said, this will not be able to control anything through Google Home, not due to a limitation of this device, but because Google Home does not have that level of automation ability (which, I am sure you'll agree is ridiculous.) If all your devices can be added through SmartLife or similar, that can handle your automation tasks.
To add device in AP mode:
1. Press and hold the button on the STITCH motion sensor until the LED blinks rapidly.
2. Press and hold the button on the STITCH motion sensor again until the LED blinks slowly.
3. In your SmartLife App tap the "+" to add device.
4. Tap the "Others" tab on the left, then "Other Products".
5. Tap "AP Mode" in the upper right corner.
6. Follow the instructions on your screen to connect to your sensor.
