Z-Wave Plus® Shock Detector, NO LOGO

    Z-Wave Plus Shock Sensor

This Shock Sensor detects the vibrations made by an intruder trying to break into a window or door and sends a Z-Wave® trigger signal to the network. It also has a tamper-proof switch, which will trigger a Z-Wave signal when the sensor's cover is removed. These trigger signals can be used to activate various other devices and perform preprogrammed tasks. When the sensor is included into a secured Z-Wave network, all communications will be encrypted using AES encryption.

Vibration Detection: This sensor detects the vibrations made by an intruder trying to break into a window or door. When triggered, the sensor sends a wireless Z-Wave Plus® alarm signal to the controller or associated devices. This signal is used to activate devices or perform other pre-programmed tasks. The sensitivity can also be adjusted, so the system can be configured to ignore spurious vibrations, such as those caused by a passing car with a too-loud stereo system.

Z-Wave Plus: Z-Wave Plus® devices act as signal repeaters for the Z-Wave Plus network, so multiple devices result in more possible transmission routes, which helps eliminate RF "dead spots" in the network. Any Z-Wave Plus enabled device displaying the Z-Wave Plus logo can be used with Z-Wave Plus devices from other manufacturers.

Easy to Install: This sensor comes with everything you need to install it into an existing Z-Wave Plus network, including adhesive tape, mounting screws and a battery. Z-Wave Plus offers plug-n-play Inclusion Network Wide.

    Low Power

Z-Wave Plus is a low power mesh networking communications technology that allows Z-Wave Plus enabled devices to communicate with each other and to distribute Z-Wave Plus messages throughout the network.

    Backwards Compatible

Z-Wave Plus products are fully backward compatible with classic Z-Wave products. Z-Wave Plus has longer battery life, faster operation, better RF coverage, and easier installation.

Can this be calibrated to detect a knock on a door ?
    John C on Apr 26, 2017
BEST ANSWER: no you can't. there is a tyny stainless steel spring inside with a magnet. that moves over a sensor. its quite sensetive but you'd have to knock pretty hard for it to pick it up
What is the device handler on Smartthings to use for this shock detector? The device paired as a zwave door/window sensor by default. The status does not change after the initial pairing. i have also tried a different handler, no luck either
    New User U on Aug 16, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Try clearing the device (as per the manual), remove it from smartthings hub and then re-pair. That worked for me. Once I did that it worked great. I just had adjust the sensitivity. Another note is you can change the device handler from z-wave plus to z-wave. This will allow it to run locally.
Can it sense multiple windows or do you need one per window?
    A shopper on Dec 31, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hi there I have it installed on my garage door and the vibration and movement of the door makes it send a signal and in return it alerts me that my garage has moved and I have a light that turns on in the living room. As for Windows like I said and needs some type of vibration or a movement to react for its action so if the windows are connected together you would need one in the middle if they're separate windows then you would need one for each window. Basically it works like a door window sensor but instead of a magnet it reacts to vibration I hope this helps good luck.
Is this device sensitive enough to detect vibration for a wash/dryer?
    New User U on Mar 20, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I haven't tired that myself since that is not really the purpose of this sensor, but I can tell you that when it was set to high sensitivity, the bark of a small dog vibrated the glass enough to trigger it. Since the vibrations of washers/dryers is much more intense than that, it most likely will be triggered if mounted directly on the appliance.
what is the size of the sensor?
    anh d on Dec 3, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hello, thank you for your question. The dimensions are 74 x 42 x 28mm, I hope this helps, and of course if you have any more questions feel free to contact us!
Anyone know if this will work with Wink?
    Mike P on Nov 24, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hello Z-Wave shock detector Works off of Z-Wave signal hubs so as long as the wink hub accept Z-Wave signal then it will work fine with it it also works with SmartThings very well. I have mine attached to the garage door which in turn sends a signal to alert me that the door has moved also a light turns on in a living room. Good luck

    Z Wave shock sensor
Could not have been easier to set up with my SmartThing hub. Much hamster if you place the sensor very near the hub. SmartThing recognized it as a door closure. Not issue. Least expensive high quality Z wave plus shock sensor out there. Samsung still does not have any Monoprice security accessories listed as certified. Do not be dismayed - they all have worked with Smartthings thus far.

PROS: Set up could not have been easier. Great price and value

    CONS: None

The only thing Smartthings sees is open. It never closes. The only communication Smartthings sees is when it's first pairs. It did see that

Doesnt work consistently. I have 2 next to each other with the same sensitivity settings and they report status differently.

Difficult to get working, but once you do...
I'm using this with the SmartThings system. It would be nice if someone would write a device handler for this device so that it will work better. These connect to the system easily but take many attempts of removing and reconnecting before it will actually do anything other than show as open/triggered. Once you get past this hurdle, they work fine.

My review for z-wave shock detector
I recommend the Z-Wave shock detector because it works really well you can set it up where you need it to alert you and other actions can be formed like lights coming on exedra. I use it on my garage door to let me know when it goes up and down and has worked every time for me and has a lot of possibilities that it can be used for thank you.

    Works great.
This seem to work fine. I have it installed on the patio door and any vibration to that door seem to trigger the alarm so works as expected.

Not as sensitive as I wanted
I purchased the zwave shock sensor for a different application than intended for. It does appear to work fine and I am guessing it would be great at detecting glass breaking or something. I actually purchased this to attach to my dryer. The thinking was that while the drywer was running, it would stay triggered. However, it does not stay triggered, as the vibration of the dryer is not enough to trigger the device. There is a sensitivity adjustment, but I adjusted it as much as allowed, but it still did not do detect the dryer in operation.
