What If battery dies when locked?
BEST ANSWER: The lock tells you the battery is in need of replacing way before it dies by an audible beep letting you know it's time to replace battery. If you ignore that warning then after about 25-50 more openings and the battery dies then in this event you can use the portable battery pack that the manufacture provides with the unit to open it.
How long do the AAA batteries last in typical use, let's say 3x a day? My Schlage combo lock deadbolt goes over 2 years on a 9V battery; wondering if this could do as well. Assume there is not much current draw as it looks like it may just have some kind of solenoid working a pin to link the knob to the retracting lock bolt, and won't actually move the bolt on its own. Since you supply the force to move the bolt, it doesn't need much power to work.
The picture shows the angled side of the lock bolt towards the outside, making it possible to use a credit card to slip open. Does the lock bolt push in while locked or does it mechanically block it from moving so stays locked when attempts are made to force it open?
