Does this speaker have a rear facing passive radiator , like the previous version?
    Bryan T on Dec 13, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I don't know what the previous version had but this doesn't have anything like that on the outside. It's all flat smooth rubber around the back.
Does this announce when the Bluetooth is connected or disconnected? The Bluetooth speaker I have in my office say "Bluetooth Connected" and "Bluetooth Disconnected" in a fairly loud tone when I want into or leave my office with my phone in my pocket. I am worried that it is disruptive to those in office/cubes close by. Does this speaker have a similar feature?
    A shopper on Dec 2, 2016
BEST ANSWER: When I connect my iPad Mini to it, I hear a short chime, similar to other BT speakers I use with my devices.
How well does this speaker perform at low volume? I want to use it in my office low enough for me to hear and enjoy but not loud enough for others to hear when walking by the office.
    Matthew W on Mar 16, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I agree with Matthew. Clean, relatively accurate sound but no crisp highs. For lower volume, I actually like the smaller units better like the Portable Mini-Melody, as its more crisp sounding and less obstructive.
What is the amplified watt power for this speaker?
    A shopper on Dec 19, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Had this question too, found this info in the manual:

"Built-in stereo 8-watts RMS/10-watts peak power per channel amplifier driving two 2.5" speakers"
Are there aux inputs for any of these?

Monoprice Deep Blue Sub710 Submersible Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker IPX7
BEST ANSWER: There is on the Deep Blue 10. There's a 1/8" headphone jack next to the charging port. And it's a pretty fantastic-sounding speaker. I was surprised at the sound quality from something this size.
Will this speaker turn off automatically when nothing is playing even if plugged in? I'd like to use it with an echo dot and the speaker will need to stay on plugged in.
    A shopper on Dec 3, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No this speaker has a standard on off switch on the back so it will stay on as long as it has power. Yeah, so if your on battery and forget to turn off it will drain a little faster. Really love it for the money.
How do I pair this with another source *after* the initial pairing?
    Craig A on Aug 15, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Sometimes it just pairs automatically, or have your new source scan for it. It's been so easy for me to pair other phones that I really haven't had to think about it much to be honest.
can this be charged from a 12 volt source like a car cigarette lighter source?
    John H on May 11, 2017
BEST ANSWER: To be more clear, I shoud've mentioned that in order to use the included AC charging adapter, you'll need an inverter in your car.
Inverter converts the cars power to the 120V that the AC charger needs.
There is no picture of the charger. Does it come with one? How big is it? Why don't they say in the specs?
    A shopper on Jan 20, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It is a wall-wart charger about 2-3 inches long and about 1 inch wide, so it's small and works well. I use mine at work running with the charger plugged in most of the time.
Does this have a microphone that allows it to be used as a speakerphone?
    Samuel T on Mar 21, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes it does. Your conversations won't be private of course. It's quite sensitive and reasonable voice quality
how do I know when it is fully charged?
    A shopper on Jan 14, 2017
BEST ANSWER: When the Large melody is fullt charged the Charge LED will turn off.
Need a clarification charging the speaker battery, and using as a power bank...

The online description states, "Use the included Micro USB cable to charge the battery from any common USB source..." However, the user manual says you use an included charger to charge it up (and the USB port can be used to charge up an external device). In the photo, the USB port says "Output" and to the right of it is the "Input 12.6v" coaxial jack. Can somebody confirm to me that the USB port is only OUTPUT, and that the online description is erroneous? Thanks.
    Steven H on Jan 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This is an error. The speaker can only charge from the included DC adapter. The USB is only for charging other devises. We will fix the product page soon.

OK for the $; online info is deceptive
I have several portable Bluetooth speakers, for various situations. I purchased this one because it's larger than the others, and I expected fatter sound. And in that department I'm fairly satisfied.

The construction quality seems okay; it has a matte "rubberized" finish that's somewhat of a dust and fingerprint magnet.

IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING THIS SPEAKER, BE ADVISED: The info on the Monoprice website says "Use the included Micro USB cable to charge the battery from any common USB source, including wall chargers, portable battery packs, and laptops." THAT IS TOTALLY INACCURATE! You can only charge it with the included "wall wart" charger. And there is no included Micro USB cable. (I'm disappointed in Monoprice. They admitted the error, but have taken no measures to correct the misinformation.) (The speaker has a USB output-only power port that you can charge up another device with, using the speaker battery... but not the other way around.)

Decent Sound from a Little Guy
Although considered large compared to most Bluetooth rechargeable speakers, it really is quite little in comparison to the large sound output! It very nicely and capably fills a room with decent acoustics. While it will never replace your home system, it is in fact a small powerhouse and performs quite well in the portable segment. The performance is quite similar to one speaker that I own called a MegaBoom, but at about 1/4 of the price. The only major difference between the two is an app that Logitech provides to pair two speakers as stereo, which the Monoprice lacks. But in the single speaker segment, this unit is the champion when it comes to value.

PROS: Price, Sound, Battery life, Value

CONS: Lack of ability to pair with another to one Bluetooth source.

I never write reviews but I feel the need to tell others about this unit. I bought this for my mother who was asking for something to play music out by her pool. I also wanted something for the beach for myself. So I bought her this one for under $40 bucks and I bought myself the new Bose one for $300. The monoprice one sounds better! For under 40 bucks I'm going to buy another one just to have it around.

This is NOT Loud at all - it has 8 watts RMS per channel
I can't see how the other reviewers say this unit is loud. For its size, it is not loud. It is good for background music, perhaps in a medium size dining room dinner party but for its size, it is not the dramatic step up from the Portable mini-melody I expected. So for me, this speaker is an unhappy medium, too large and heavy to travel with, not loud enough for entertaining in a living room - and I am a huge fan of Monoprice products but the Volume to Size and Price ratio is underwhelming. The sound is clean, a little flat - doesn't pick up the highs and upper midrange like the Portable mini-melody. I will relegate this to the garage.

    Lg melody bluetooth speaker
So far, pretty happy. I bought it to use when we ride bikes at the beach. It fits in a basket and does not seem to find the movement of the bike a problem. Pairs with my phone and the battery has lasted for several 3 hour rides. Volume is good and sound decent.

PROS: Works as described and seems to be a pretty well made little speaker.

CONS: No indicator light on the battery

Big Booming Sound? From Who's Perspective ?
I'm a HUGE fan of Monoprice. That being said, I am missing something if people think this is loud or room filling- perhaps for a small bathroom, but I have purchased 2 other Bluetooth speakers from Monoprice-much smaller-but there was not a Huge increase in volume - a fuller, warmer sound yes (albeit with less treble and crisp to my ears than Portable Mini-Melody) This would be OK for a dinner party, inside, for up to 6 people for background music. But that's it.

I will triple-check and gladly retract these comments if I am doing something wrong and have not max-ed out the volume correctly, but the loudness is sincerely less than half the volume I had anticipated. You can easily carry on a conversation over it standing 4 feet away.

I want to repeat I'm a huge fan of monoprice but this one, for me, is a weak offering compared to their other offerings, all things considered..

    Response from Monoprice
I'm sorry to hear that, perhaps the device you are connecting to the speaker requires the bluetooth volume to be raised. Most devices (such as phones or tablets) still have the ability to adjust the volume when connected to bluetooth. Should that not be the case, you may have a defective unit on your hands. Please feel free to contact us at reviews@monoprice.com with a detailed summary of the issue you are experiencing and our knowledgeable Technical Support staff would be more than happy to assist. Thank you

    Too Quiet
The sound quality of the speaker is quite good--clear mids and highs, decent lows--but the volume output is WAY too low. It might be nice sitting on your desk as you work, but there is no way this speaker could ever "fill a room" with sound.

Awesome Home Speaker for My Little Apartment
This speaker has been a joy to own. It sounds surprisingly full, has a long battery life, and is just the right size for my apartment and toting around to the park. I don't have any problem with volume. Maxing the volume on my cell phone and maxing the volume on the speaker is far too loud for inside my house. Unless you have an exceptional amount of background noise or are very hard of hearing, I wouldn't be discouraged by the other reviews. The price can't be beat. And it does look very attractive. Not one regret for buying this awesome little speaker.
