Are these headphones wired for iOS phones or Android?
    Paul B on Oct 21, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I use it for my iPhone and they work well.
Is it suggested to burn these in with pink noise for 24+ hours, similar to some of the other noise isolating earbuds sold by Monoprice (ie, PID 9927)?
    Jeffrey H on Mar 8, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Thanks for your interest in these earphones. Almost all speaker are stiffer when brand new. During use the spider and surround of the driver loosen up which will give mare bass and allow the driver to move faster. If you do not want to hear this change in sound then running pink noise for 24 hours is the preferred method.

    Button design earphones
I didn't have high expectations at this price point but the audio quality was great. Unfortunately, the build quality is not so great. The phones have strain-relief near the bud but within 2 weeks the insulation just past the strain relief started coming off leaving the 2 thin internal wires exposed in 2 different places.. The other ear is starting the same thing. Only a matter of time before they break.

    PROS: Sound good.

CONS: Insulation on wires falling apart after very limited use.

Cord wire twisted through the insulation
After very light use the word wires twisted through the insulation. Now the wring is exposed and it is only a matter of time before they fail. Sound quality was fine and price is very reasonable but I would rather pay a few dollars more for a product that lasts.

    Comparison Review
I purchased the following earbuds: 13801, 8321, 13879 (this item), 10153 and 14088 to do some comparison work. Here are my comments, starting off with the best.

13801 - Hands down the winners. Well worth the couple of extra bucks. Only pair with a flat cord, and 90deg plug, (both pluses in my book). The play/pause button is adequate. Sound is very well balanced. High sensitivity so they can play louder if desired and can be used with a Y splitter if people are sharing a single jack. Frequency response is very wide.

10153 - These are bass heavy and are lacking in highs. The cord is terrible. Play/pause button marginally better than the 13801. Sound wise these are probably the second best on the list but that cord is terrible.... thin and tangles easily.

14088 - Exact opposite from the 10153. Crystal clear highs and mids, but little bass. This is surprising since they are the largest pair of the group. Cord is not quite as good as the 13801, but WAY better than the 10153. The play/pause button is lacking and can be difficult to work. Overall, these are not bad, but I feel they will cause serious ear fatigue due to their emphasis on high frequencies.

13879 - These are the budget choice. They are well balanced, but lack in both frequency response and sensitivity compared to the winning 13801. The cord is identical to the 14088 and play/pause button is as good as the 10153, so the best of both worlds. If you are looking for decent earbuds for the kids, get these and save a couple of bucks.. For any other use, the 13801s are by far the better choice.

8321 - These look similar (just different color) to the 13879, but are WAY different. The cord is garbage like on the 10153. They don’t have a play/pause button. The sound quality is not good. They have almost no bass and poor frequency response and sensitivity. These are last place for sure.

    Works great, good sound
The added bonus of having a built in mic is great. Can plug into my phone and have hands free conversations!

Great for the price...especially on sale.
I burn through a lot of earbuds from sweating them up at the gym. These sounds as good or better than any $10-12 pair I've bought. They come with replacement nubbins and all.

Apparently more sturdy than other Monoprice models
These maybe don't sound as great as some of the more expensive Monoprice models, but the wires haven't come loose from the earbuds on my two pairs of these in extensive usage. Some of the other models, the outside wire sheathing came loose and the earbud was hanging by two tiny wires, and taping them kind of made them hard to fit into my ear. These haven't had that problem in double the time it took the other models to develop this problem.

    Small , great quality
They are small enough that the fit is perfect. Plus, the quality is pretty good, and the price is awesome. I would buy again and again

    These sound fantastic
The sound quality of these are unlike any I've ever bought for <$20. Also, I have really small, oddly shaped ear canals. Most earbuds just make my ears sore. These fit in nicely and can really stay there all day without bothering me.
