    Questions on the foam for this case:

    BEST ANSWER: 1) - This is open-celled foam and there are two pieces in the case which fills the entire inside of the case, as shown in the pictures.
    2) - The foam is 'pick and pluck' and allows you to create a pocket to protect your gear.

    Rugged and durable
    Excellent high quality case. The construction of this case is top notch it performs well with a good seal to keep out the elements when you travel.

    PROS: Rugged high quality thick case which will protect your items from damage and the elements. Also the case hinges is designed to prevent the top from folding all the way back and will hold it in a up right position. Very well made.

    CONS: The item title lists the case as being 13 x 12 x 6 which is the outside dimensions of the case. You should read the detailed description to get the internal dimensions of the case 12.2 x 9.4 x5.1.

    The bottom foam layer is a solid piece of foam (no scoring) and about 3/4" (20 mm) thick...a little thin for my intended use because the foam is also fairly soft. I am not sure it provides enough cushioning for expensive cameras or lenses. The pinch foam is 1.5" (30 mm) thick and cut in 3/8" (10 mm) squares. The foam is scored within 3/8" of the edge, I would prefer a 3/4' or 1" band of solid foam on the edges for sturdier protection. This is still a good case for many uses and a very good value.

    PROS: Sturdy case, latches appear secure and don't pop open when closed.



    CONS: - Bottom foam is only 3/4" (20 mm) thick

    - Foam may be to soft for some applications

    - The foam is scored within 3/8" of the edge

    Great Case for the Price!
    If you're looking for an less expensive alternative to cases made by Pelican or even SKB, you found it. The cases are light and durable. Although I've only had my case for about a month I know my video filed monitor is well protected. The foam isn't as dense as the foam made by Pelican but I know my monitor will not be going in and out of the case very much so I'm not worried about tears or fraying.

    PROS: Shell is light and durable. Love the built in cover for tags and identification. Price is more then reasonable.

    CONS: Foam isn't as dense as Pelican. The latches have some play, could give trouble as wear and tear sets in.

    Solid, rugged protective case
    I haven't had a chance to really test this case yet, but I have checked it out. The plastic is tough and solid feeling. I'm going to use it to store telescope eyepieces. I feel confident it will do a good job protecting them when I have to put them in the car for a trip to a dark site. Some reviews mention the latches popping open. I don't think this will be an issue. I noticed that there is an extra little "click" or "pop" when you push the latch ALL the way closed. It feels closed, but I gave it another push and it made a final pop. I have a feeling that other users may not have latched it all the way. If one was truly worried, a small luggage lock would give the security of knowing it would it open completely even if the latches failed. I will be using it soon and if I see it popping open, I wil come back and edit my review. Right now, this case is looking like an amazing bargain. If you know Pelican cases, then you know those things are expensive. This case seems to be nearly as good at a fraction of the price. It impressed me enough that I immediately bought another for some of my other telescope accessories that need protection during travel.

    PROS: Rugged, protective, well-made
    The price.

    CONS: Latches should have a positive "locking" feature that keeps them from being opened too easily.

    Amazing quality at half the price
    Price to quality ratio is off the hook!?? the removable foam blocks makes fitting my gear that much easier. This case is built like a tank. Monoprice has done it yet again.
