So my projector is 17x11x4.5. Do you think I'm cutting it too close with this case? Will I have enough foam around the edges to have at least some protection?
Mr. Invincible on Jul 25, 2017
BEST ANSWER: You will definitely be cutting it very close with the amount of foam between the projector and the inner wall of the case. If you want to test it out and it doesn't work, we offer a 30-day money back guarantee. If the product you purchase does not satisfy your needs, send it back for a full refund.
How ESD-safe or not is the foam and the plastic? I'd like to build an electronics prototyping/project enclosure using this, so it would have exposed PCBAs and/or breadboards inside.
    New User U on Dec 30, 2016
BEST ANSWER: it is not Esd safe at all. As a certified Esd Instructor the foam is non conductive so it will have a static filed on it probably in the range of 8000 to 15000 volts reading on an ESD Meter the case also is non conductive plastic so it will hold a charge as well. Even if you used conductive black foam which would keep the board safe, being in the non conductive plastic case will expose the board in a static filed. If the board was in a conductive static bag the board would be totally safe however you cannot take it out of the bag while near the case. In any case you could not power it up How this helps Frank ESD Instructor
Is it possible to get replacement foam for this unit? I bought one a year and a half ago and want to repurpose it.

BEST ANSWER: I was hoping Monoprice would step up and offer it.
Does the lid fold over completely 180 degrees or does it stand upright at 90 degrees?
    New User U on Nov 13, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Just 90 degrees as pictured in the item description. Nice case though, if it will work for your application!
Is this case big enough for a small DSLR (Canon Rebel T2i) and 2 lenses?
    JACOB K on Nov 28, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hello, this item's internal dimensions are 17.64" x 13.58" x 4.76" (448 x 345 x 121 mm). So as long as the dimensions of the cameras and lenses are within that size. Then this will fit fine. I hope this helps, and thank you for your question!
Will the macbook pro touch15” fit in here with the charger?

Pro level hard case shell, prosumer foam.
I have a couple big brand, bird name hard cases that this case looks to a cheaper alternative. In terms of the hard case strength and weight, it's pretty equivalent. The hinges don't have the resistance as the other brand so it's possible for the lid to slam on your hands if it was bumped hard enough. The shell feels heavy duty and the latches close secure.

When I first opened it the lid foam fell down so I added double sided tape to secure it in. Also the pick foam and bottom foam are also loose, but that won't fall out unless you have it open and put it upside down. The customized foam is soft, it's not as dense as the competitor's foam. You can visibly see the squares even without putting any pressure on it vs. the competitor's which looks like one seamless piece. There are no instructions but it would be best that you leave at least 2 squares between each cavity or else the walls would be too weak.

The foam does work and protect. I put in 3 wireless mics, 3 instrument wireless packs, and various cables. I'm confident that it will all stay safe during repeated transport from gig to gig. If you can live with the foam not being as rigid as other's, you can't beat the price.

    PROS: Great price, very strong.

CONS: Foam is soft. Not enough resistance when closing.

    Very impressive
Monoprice knocks it out of the park with these new hard cases. They are obviously gunning for the big brand cases, and they have managed to provide an equivalent for literally half the cost. This case is overbuilt, with thicker shell and rib construction. The rib stands are a nice touch, allowing the case to stand on it's side, and they are thick enough that they won't snap off. The latches are surprisingly easy to latch open and closed, but still stay secure. It comes with a label tag under the handle, red on one side and white on the other. You could write your name on it or color coordinate if you have many cases. The shell and handle hinge use 1/4" steel pins, and the handle has 6 attachment points, this thing should last forever. The shell is fantastically strong, not budging an inch from jumping up and down on it.

The only things I can nitpick about are the non locking latches. The big brand equivalent has them, but you can always just buy a regular lock and use the provided lock holes, I am sure it saves a few bucks off the cost. The pressure release valve is not automatic. Again, probably a cost saving measure, just remember to open and close it at the appropriate times. On the case I received, I noticed the foam on the inside had shrunk ever so slightly. No big deal except the top convoluted foam will not stay put and keeps falling out. Nothing some high strength adhesive spray couldn't fix though. The last thing is the mention of warranty, which I couldn't find anywhere. The big brands offer lifetime warranties, which may be a deal breaker for some people. Then again the case is so strong and overbuilt I don't know if you would ever need it.

In closing, this new hard case from Monoprice is a keeper. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who needs extreme protection and likes to save money.

PROS: Very strong, air tight, water tight, crush and dust proof. Overbuilt engineering at half the cost.

CONS: No locking latches, air valve is a manual non membrane type. Foam is slightly shrunk. Warranty is not specified.

    Pop goes the weasle
Having used other professional equipment cases over the years I was excited to see that Monoprice was carrying something similar. I had just purchased some new audio gear and needed to protect them so I purchased two of their cases. When the order arrived I took to cutting the foam for the correct compartments which is easy work having done this on multiple cases (the foam cuts easily using an electric knife, by the way). The problem came after I loaded the gear into the case and was putting it away. I set the cases down on carpet so that the case was resting on the hinge side (very typical for a briefcase style case). Because of the carpet the case tipped over onto its lid. When the case landed on the carpet both latched popped open. When I picked the case up the contents started to spill out. I thought that maybe I hadn't latched the case securely enough so I repeated the test, several times, I might add, all with the same result. The same thing happened on the second case but not as frequently.

I did order replacement cases and received a refund from Monoprice but the question in the back of my mind is "will this happen again?". The new cases did not perform the same way but the doubt is still there.

I could see dropping the case onto concrete from 10' in the air might yield the same outcome but to have the case topple from a "standing" position (on the case hinge) without any force onto CARPET was a bit much. Like I said, the new cases performed much better but the thought is still there. I will probably use a lock to keep the lid from coming completely open but those who order these cases in the future should be aware of this possibility and check them in a controlled environment.

    PROS: Price, size

    CONS: Potential unlocking issue

I've been using this for my Roland SPD-SX drum pad. There's just enough room for the drum pad and power supply. I travel a lot and this has been holding up really well to the road.

    PROS: Solid
    Customizable Foam
    Much cheaper than the competition

    Built like a freakin tank
Very happy with this purchase! 1/2 the price of a Pelican case. 1/4 the price of a Seahorse case. I would recommend this product. I would purchase this item again. I will purchase the wheeled large cases very soon.

PROS: Military quality, industrial tough, rugged, waterproof, built to take a beating or be shipped around the world, great plunk n peel foam

    CONS: Heavy

    Rugged and Heavy
I got this for my Go-Pro Cameras and accessories. The empty box weighs multitudes more than the contents that I carry inside. For my purpose, the soft foam is nice, but I can imagine how it could be too soft for other applications.

I think this purchase was a great deal, and if they made one with a bit harder foam I would purchase a few more for different applications.

PROS: Extremely rugged, easy to handle pre-cut foam, closes and locks great.

CONS: The case is heavy, I would prefer a bit harder foam. The lid foam was loose but that was quickly fixed with a bit of glue...

    Weatherproof Case
I have bought a few of these over the last few months and I must say they are built quite well. I am using them to store my Microphone collection & small Mixers & other audio equipment . I like the way they lock securely & the Air decompressor is a nice added feature. For the price you can't beat these cases.

PROS: Solid construction, Locks securely,Air decompressor.& Foam.

CONS: None that I can think of for the moment.

    Hard Weatherproof Case
Seems to be a great case. I may be purchasing another one.

PROS: Great case. Extremely solid. I liked that the foam being scored so you can customize it to your needs. I plan to use it for a wireless mic, receiver, body pack, etc. Has an area where you could label if you wanted to. No problem with the latches as others may have noted. I have complete confidence that my equipment will be kept safe. It's extremely durable.

CONS: A little bit on the heavy side. A little big for my specific needs but I can always fill up the space.
