    Great Video Head
I was looking for a video head for an existing tripod and compared this to units costing 4 times as much and other highly rated ones on Amazon. Based on previous experience with Monoprice I decided to take the risk and buy this without any reviews. The unit turned up in a box, that contained another box, which contained a draw string fabric bag, which contained a plastic bag which contained the video head! Very well packaged.

The unit is well made of mostly metal. The pan and tilt have degrees marked which was missing on others I researched, The unit operates very smoothly and holds a Canon T4i, 155mm lens, video light and shotgun mic with ease. Great buy and very happy

PROS: Mainly Metal and well made

    Very well packaged

    Bubble Levels

    smooth operation

CONS: if I had to find one, the plastic fitting used to adjust the handle.

As with much of the stuff monoprice sellsI don't think anything can beat this for the price.

It's perfect for smaller cameras, though I've used it without issue with a 5D2+grip and 70-200 f/2.8.

This is also a fantastic head for sliders. It's small and smooth, with a build quality much better than that on the Benro Aero 2.

Video Head Medium Pan & Tilt Arm
This is just and initial first impression as I haven't had a chance to actually field test the video head. However I mounted it on my Vanguard tripod with no issues, mounted my DSLR and tried some moves. While the pan and tilt action is on the stiff side, I consider that a good thing as there is better control. The unit seems to be solid and well made.

BTW- I have about 40 years in the broadcast industry and have worked with a number of camera crews using high end fluid head tripods. I think this head is a great deal if it holds up long term.

    PROS: Solid construction

    Smooth motion

    Seem like good locking mechanism

    Cloth bag for storage

    Bubble levels are very useful

CONS: None so far. Haven't field tested, so can't give long term review.

Not a big deal, but I'm actually a lefty and I'd love to be able to switch the handle. Doesn't seem to be possible to take it out.

    Basic video head
As a basic video head this will do OK. The friction is a little stiff but I haven't had any chance to use it in production and expect that with a bit of use it will loosen up nicely. The unit is metal so I hope that it will hold up a lot better than the old plastic one I have. There are a number of bubble levels which is nice but the one is so small that it will be useless in the real world. That is not going to be a problem because it is only for the shot that points straight down and I don't have plans for that shot.

PROS: I needed a new tripod with a basic fluid head as a replacement for the first tripod I ever bought a long time ago in a land far far away.... :). I have a much more expensive pro level fluid video head on another tripod as my primary and I didn't expect this one to match it in any way. All I wanted was a simple and light fluid head and this one meets that requirement at a decent price.

CONS: Monoprice doesn't offer any tripod that will fit with this head. They do have complete tripods but not with a video head.

    Great value
Very smooth operation with this tripod head. It made an excellent replacement for the ball head on my Mefoto tripod. I use if for a scope while birding and it is perfect that.

PROS: Solid, smooth panning for use with scope. Acra Swiss system for plates.

CONS: A little bit heavier than it might be and the handle is a little large.

Unit is a solid build but had popping/bubbling sound when tilting the head. The unit I received also had marring marks in 2 locations. Maybe I received a bad egg?? I don't know.

    Good Value, Bad Video Head
The pan action is very stiff in some areas and loose in others, resulting in very choppy pans. The tilt is smooth however.

    PROS: Good value

    CONS: Spotty quality
