Questions and Answers
The unit is well made of mostly metal. The pan and tilt have degrees marked which was missing on others I researched, The unit operates very smoothly and holds a Canon T4i, 155mm lens, video light and shotgun mic with ease. Great buy and very happy
PROS: Mainly Metal and well made
Very well packaged
CONS: if I had to find one, the plastic fitting used to adjust the handle.
It's perfect for smaller cameras, though I've used it without issue with a 5D2+grip and 70-200 f/2.8.
This is also a fantastic head for sliders. It's small and smooth, with a build quality much better than that on the Benro Aero 2.
BTW- I have about 40 years in the broadcast industry and have worked with a number of camera crews using high end fluid head tripods. I think this head is a great deal if it holds up long term.
PROS: Solid construction
Seem like good locking mechanism
Cloth bag for storage
Bubble levels are very useful
CONS: None so far. Haven't field tested, so can't give long term review.
Not a big deal, but I'm actually a lefty and I'd love to be able to switch the handle. Doesn't seem to be possible to take it out.
PROS: I needed a new tripod with a basic fluid head as a replacement for the first tripod I ever bought a long time ago in a land far far away.... :). I have a much more expensive pro level fluid video head on another tripod as my primary and I didn't expect this one to match it in any way. All I wanted was a simple and light fluid head and this one meets that requirement at a decent price.
CONS: Monoprice doesn't offer any tripod that will fit with this head. They do have complete tripods but not with a video head.
PROS: Solid, smooth panning for use with scope. Acra Swiss system for plates.
CONS: A little bit heavier than it might be and the handle is a little large.
PROS: Good value
CONS: Spotty quality
