What's the difference between this and Product ID: 500276: 2-Port USB Car Charger, 4.8A Black?
    Johnny L on Jan 3, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The only difference I can see is 2 dollars. The pictures for both are identical. I would check with customer support to verify if they are the same or not.
Does this plug into the car's cigarette lighter, or can it only be plugged into a 12v outlet?
    Otto B on Apr 23, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It can be plugged into any 12v outlet.
Can this also be used for iPhones?
    New User U on Jul 27, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes. These can be used for any device that can be charged via usb. Also, the 2.1A ports allow for faster charging of the device (if the device supports it).
Will this charger work at full charge rate with a Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8 in tablet?
    A shopper on Dec 2, 2016
    BEST ANSWER: Yes it will
How much power does this adapter draw without any devices plugged in?
    Eugene B on Nov 28, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Blue LEDs draw 20-25mA or approx. 0.2mW. That is not usually enough to drain a battery within 2 weeks.

    Not 4.8A
Having the old 4.2A charger (PID 10239) for 2 years has saved me from having a dead phone at work. I'd occasionally forget to charge it overnight, but after 30-40 minutes on the morning drive my phone would reach ~60%. As I upgraded phones, the charging times seemed to increase. I'd now have a 40% charge instead of 60%. Tried different OEM cables (Sony, Motorola, Samsung) but still no improvement. Now my job required me to have a tablet, so I came back to Monoprice and ordered this charger. It's actually worse than the old one. The 4.2 charger took 30 min to increase 10% battery (4G, GPS, 1/2 brightness). With this 4.8A charger, the tablet actually tells me to plug it into the OEM charger because it's consuming more power than what the charger is supplying.. Disappointed.

I did some NON scientific tests with Ampere (app) and a 2ft Sony OEM USB cable:
(Tested one device at a time)
    Old Charger (4.2A, PID10239)
    Z4: Battery only @ -600mA, Charging @ 560mA, Max USB @ 1500mA
    Z2 Tablet: Battery only @ -900mA, Charging @ 400mA, Max USB @ 1500mA
    New Charger (4.8A, PID13412)
    Z4: Battery only @ -550mA, Charging @ 200mA, Max USB @ 1000mA
    Z2 Tablet: Battery only @ -1100mA, Charging @ 20mA, Max USB @ 1000mA

Also tried some Monoprice cables with similar results.
Honestly my charger might be a dud, but hardly anything from Monoprice is defective (that I have received).

PROS: Cool blue light, not as blinding as you expect
Doesn't get stuck in the cigarette port like the old 4.2A charger

CONS: Only supplies 1A per device

Better Than My $39 POS Verizon Purchase
I purchased what was supposed to be a high end Verizon charger as part of my Droid Turbo purchase. It shorted and failed just before the last possible day I could still return it. The second one did the same just a week after the 90 day warranty. Gotta love that North Korean quality you get from Verizon, thank God Motorola made the phone. Anyway, this little guy kicks but and I will get another for back-up in my wife's car.

PROS: Great performance like things costing 4-5 times as much
    Not exactly small, but unobtrusive
Small blue light shows well, without being a distraction

Recommended purchase add-on if trying to get free shipping.

PROS: the tire tread is not as big as the pictures give you the impression of, its not in the way in any car i've used it in yet.

    Works Great!
I wanted a car charger that could supply 2.1 amps to my iPhone's Smart Battery Case, because it charged so slowly from my old car charger. This one does not disappoint. It is also less bulky than my old one, easier to grip, and about half the price of The Wirecutter's top pick for a 2.1 amp car charger.

    PROS: Easy to grip
    Charges faster
Less bulky than my old one
    Low price

Delivered quickly and works as described. This will help on those long trips in the van.

    Great gadget to have
I wanted a high-capacity charger that was also compact, and this one fills the bill. Very glad I got it.

    PROS: Compact

    2.4A per outlet

    CONS: None

    Working Great!
So far so good... I had a hard time finding something like this for this price.

PROS: Two 2.4A ports for $10? GREAT DEAL!

CONS: Nothing, but the car tire end is a little silly...

    Study, inexpensive, and compact
Indispensable little device to keep in the glove compartment. Great to have handy on road trips, etc to charge up phones.

    Works fine.
Hard to get excited here, but it does what it's supposed to do. Little blue light is hardly noticeable, but does let you know it's working. I would def buy again if I needed another one.
