most, if not all, car outlets are 12volts. What makes one a cigarette lighter is not the outlet, but what you’re plugging into it. When you plug this charger in, instead of the lighter, it will work great.

Works fine in the outlets on my '07 Chevrolet Tahoe, which are power/lighter outlets. Should work in most US cars, but perhaps not in some foreign cars (which I found had different lighter diameter).

So long as your vehicle has a 12-volt system, the outlets are all 12-volt, including the cigarette lighter. I use mine every day to keep my phone and my Kindle fully up to snuff.

The only power it should be drawing is for the LED light and that shouldn't be that much.

Will this charger work at full charge rate with a Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8 in tablet?
A shopper
on Dec 2, 2016
It will charge at the normal rate, but it won't go into "Fast Charge" mode. "Fast Charge" only works with Samsung devices using Samsung chargers. The device and the charger have circuits that can communicate with each other and double the charging voltage to charge faster. "Fast Charge" mode does not work with other brands of chargers.

It charges at 2.4a per outlet. That SHOULD charge at full rate for your tablet, but I own a different Samsung tablet so I am not 100% sure. It's a great device and low cost. I purchased multiple for use on my boat, in two cars and to give away.

Is this charger's port a USB-A or instead a USB-C? My phone is an iPhone with a "lightning" port. I see cable choices I can buy including lightning-to-USB-A or lightning-to-USB-C, and I am confused about which cable I should buy to connect my iPhone to this charger.

A Good Compact Charger
It works as it should. The blue ?power-on? light is handy and not overwhelmingly bright. And the low profile keeps the charging cord from sticking out too far.

Not for me.
Very tight USB port. Requires too much pull to remove the Apple lightning cord. I do not plan to continue using this as it will break my OEM Apple wire.
I have many other USB plugs that are not this tight.

One of the best mobile device vehicle chargers out there!
I purchased 3 of these... for myself, for my wife and my daughter. It's reliable and delivers the current needed for fast charge of iPhones and also not too shabby for the more demanding iPads.

Works Great
Feels well built. Seems to be able to handle the rated current compared to other adapters I've used where the current seems lacking.
