Eb Alto Saxophone
Mother of pearl finger keys and exquisite tone will allow you to play this E♭ Alto Saxophone much longer than a standard "student" model woodwind.
Why buy your band instruments from Monoprice?
Many school band directors reflexively dismiss band instruments made in China, preferring to point parents to the entry-level instruments from the major brands. This ignores the fact that the entry-level instruments from the major brands are also made in China!
The country of origin therefore is NOT an indicator of the quality of an instrument and whether it will sound and play properly. One of the best indicators of an instrument's quality however, is how well the company stands behind their instruments.
Monoprice stands behind EVERY product we sell with a 30-day money back guarantee. If for any reason you are unhappy with your purchase, return it within 30 days for a full refund.
Additionally we stand behind every instrument we sell with a 1 year warranty. If the performance of the instrument changes over time, if you notice a problem that you didn't notice before, if it breaks from normal use, simply return it and receive a new replacement in exchange.
So do not be dissuaded by naysayers, who admittedly have not tried Monoprice Pro Audio products! You can purchase with total confidence that your investment will not be wasted and that the investment will be considerably less than if the instrument wears a major name brand logo.

The saxophone came with everything that is needed to get started (mouthpiece, reed, mouthpiece cover, polishing cloth, and a case that includes backpack straps). All I had to do was unpack it and start playing. The case is much better than the cheap hard cases you usually get with student model instruments.
The shipping was incredibly fast it arrived at 8 am the day after I ordered it.
(For reference, I played saxophone through college, including playing in many state and county honor bands. I have played in a large number of jazz bands, concert bands, marching bands, and orchestras.)
PROS: Fast shipping, works perfectly right out of the box, comes with everything needed to get started
PROS: Fast shipping
Easy set up
CONS: Neck strap
PROS: Pros: Fast shipping, great sound, good horn
CONS: They must tell everyone to unpack carefully by removing the corks holding it down safely.
I knew immediately what to do but some people will try playing it as is.
Just a shipping or packaging update.
Note - all the keys are stuck down in shipping. You have to take out the cork wedges to unlock the keys (about 8 pieces).
I played 8 years up to senior in High School, but that was 25 years ago. Wasn't sure how much I'd play, liking it so far.
PROS: Price, has everything to get started.
CONS: Neck strap only has a hook
However, get a real strap. The provided one is bad. The case is great and the accessories are nice. I use it with a vandoren mouthpiece, which I bought second hand from a friend. I would recommend buying a better mouthpiece&ligature to make the most out of it.

The reed will need to replaced within the first week. Also, note that a tiny wire/spring that holds one of the keys needs to be moved over the tiny holder (I do not know the technical part names!) but that was simple to do with a paper clip. Other than that, it's great--my son loves it and the teacher said it sounds fine!
