Built to last and sound great, the B♭ Clarinet from Monoprice makes learning the Clarinet fun! The felt pads do not require as much pressure to play properly.
Why buy your band instruments from Monoprice?
Many school band directors reflexively dismiss band instruments made in China, preferring to point parents to the entry-level instruments from the major brands. This ignores the fact that the entry-level instruments from the major brands are also made in China!
The country of origin therefore is NOT an indicator of the quality of an instrument and whether it will sound and play properly. One of the best indicators of an instrument's quality however, is how well the company stands behind their instruments.
Monoprice stands behind EVERY product we sell with a 30-day money back guarantee. If for any reason you are unhappy with your purchase, return it within 30 days for a full refund.
Additionally we stand behind every instrument we sell with a 1 year warranty. If the performance of the instrument changes over time, if you notice a problem that you didn't notice before, if it breaks from normal use, simply return it and receive a new replacement in exchange.
So do not be dissuaded by naysayers, who admittedly have not tried Monoprice Pro Audio products! You can purchase with total confidence that your investment will not be wasted and that the investment will be considerably less than if the instrument wears a major name brand logo.
- Ebonite Body
- Nickel Plated Keys
- Reed (strength: 2.5)
- Mouthpiece Cover
- Adjustable Neck Strap
- Cleaning Cloth
- Hard-shell Carry Case
CONS: A bit flat
Reed isn't best quality
PROS: It sounds identical to my older daughter's $600+ clarinet. My 10 year old was thrilled with it and is just as proud of it as she would have been if we would have spent a small fortune on it. It is a very nice looking instrument.
CONS: I haven't come up with any yet.
PROS: - Plays well for the price
- Monoprice always delivers on-time, great service!
- Clarinet is solid, will last, & sounds good enough for a practice instrument
- Perfect for the purpose of our purchase
I do know that it makes clarinet sounds and my daughter was playing it the first night she got it.
I wish I could buy replacement reeds from monoprice as well, but I ended up buying 10 reeds, the instruction book, and a cleaning/care kit from the music store when they came to the school.
PROS: A fraction of the cost of renting one from a music store. Sounds good for a 5th grader learning to play the clarinet. All the controls and pads seem to be operational and clean.
CONS: Ligature was a little stiff at first. Reed that came with the clarinet was not great quality and replaced soon (within a day). Thumb rest could be improved.
PROS: It plays okay, could be a little better but great for the price.
CONS: Thumb rest screw didn't set on mine so I have to use it without a thumb rest which is hard in most cases.
PROS: It sounded fine to my beginner ear. The keys don't feel much different from another student clarinet I have now. It only cost same money to rent a student one.
CONS: the thumb rest hurts. Compare to another one, the thumb rest is curved and padded. This one is flat even with sharp edges.
PROS: good build quality
great for a beginner player
good for a backup clarinet
CONS: ok but not great sound quality
PROS: Excellent price for a marching clarinet that will be used in the heat and rain.
CONS: Quality control needs improvement. One of the pads wasn't even on one of the keys which wouldn't allow it to play. I had to pay $10 to have a pad installed.
