    Brings Back Memories
I remember playing recorder back in elementary school music class. Thought it would be fun to pick this up at such a low price. I was not disappointed. I should record myself playing Hot Cross Buns and send it to my parents, make them shudder one more time...

PROS: Cheap, fast delivery, sound is pretty good.

    CONS: None.

    Great for the price
I bought this as a cheap birthday present for my wife. It may have been inexpensive, but it has very decent sound. The end piece is moveable we needed to twist it slightly to get all the note to play. Overall, this is way better than I expected for the price.

    PROS: Decent sound quality.

    Excellent price

CONS: Needed to tweak the end to get perfect scale

    Works Great!
This was exactly what I expected to get when I ordered. A relatively inexpensive musical toy for my kids. It seems sturdy, and should last quite a while.

    PROS: Inexpensive, but good quality

    Daughter loves it!
Added this on to an order to give to my young daughter. She loves it. It's better quality than the ones they gave out for music class in elementary school. Would buy again.

    PROS: Well built

    Easy to play

    Correct pitch

    CONS: none

    Soprano Baroque recorder in "C"
I'm a woodwind player used to playing high quality horns. With a little tweaking of the barrel, the intonation of this little "toy" actually didn't do too bad. I wouldn't want to use it to develop a student's musical ear, but it is fun and easy.

PROS: It includes a bag and tuning/cleaning rod, and is all nicely finished, and all for 3 bucks!.

    A fun toy/gift!
For what this is, it is a $3 recorder/instrument, it is surprisingly fun to play, well built, and at such a low price, is almost something you just 'have' to add to your shopping cart, either as a gift, or something to play around with. It is all plastic, but feels really sturdy and well put together. Again, not the best sounding one I have heard, but again, good enough to make it a must buy

PROS: CHEAP! For the price, you almost can not help but pick one up! Surprisingly sturdy as well!

CONS: Not the best sounding recorder on the planet

Good for a toy, but out of tune
These are fun and if you drop or lose them who cares for $3 bucks. However the E note is way, way off. I bought 2 of these and it's off on both of them, which makes me think their mold or drilling process is off on that hole. Oh well, by 2 year old walk around the house playing it and she doesn't know the difference.

    PROS: Cheap and sturdy

    CONS: Out of tune

    Could Be Better
I'm an elementary school music teacher and have used many recorders. This one is better than anything you'll get at a Dollar Tree and better than the translucent colored ones. It feels good and plays well in the low octave. Truthfully, if you only do BAG songs, this is fine, but the second octave is difficult to impossible to get good sound out of.

I like everything else I get from monoprice and I'll write a good review for something else I use because I feel guilty :)

    PROS: Price, Case

    CONS: Playability

Great instrument - unbeatable value at that price! Be sure to adjust it to your finger length - despite appearances, it *does* come apart.

PROS: Evenness of sound, precision of tuning in the first and second octaves

CONS: Some strangeness in the suggested fingering on the included sheet low C is mildly out of tune

    Nice Recorder!
Step 1: Buy recorder for $1

Step 2: Learn to play "Happy Birthday"

    Step 3: Put away recorder

Step 4: If someone asks you if you can play an instrument, confidently say "yes!"
