BEST ANSWER: No, it is an XLR connector that you solder a shielded mic cable to. You can use them for microphones or DMX cable for lighting applications like dimmer packs or LED Par cans. The fact that they call it a DMX connector is because the outer shell is less rugged if stepped on than a regular Mic connector. You can use these for a permanent installation but not take them on the road. I suggest using regular mic cables for on the road applications. Some lighting applications call for a true 5 pin DMX connector that look similar.

Really nice well made connectors. I made my own custom made cables and just worked great.

DMX your audio, great for both applications!
Using this in audio applications, easy disassembly and solid connection. Repair is very easy and no issues with mic or line level applications. The value compared to other connectors cannot be beat!

    Good Value
I purchased several of these to make DMX cables with Monoprice DMX Bulk Cable. I usually use more expensive, industry-standard connectors that cost about twice as much as these, but I figured I'd give them a try. These connectors get the job done just fine, but are definitely not as easy to work with and are not as high quality as more expensive options. I used them for a permanent installation project and had no issues. I would probably not trust these connectors in a high-impact/heavy stage use setting, but for low-impact situations I would say they are a good value.

    PROS: good value
    fairly easy to install

CONS: not the best build quality
concerns for durability in heavy use situations
