I purchased this XLR connector along with a female XLR and plate combo. Once I plugged the connector into the plate, I could never get it unplugged again. I would advise trying to find a male and female XLR parts from the same manufacturer. Perhaps they would work better together. But I could never use the parts I purchased.
I love these connectors. They're affordable, sleek, and easy to solder. I used these for microphone cables and they work great. I don't know why they label them as DMX, because the only difference should be the ohms of the cable itself. These are much better than the crazy, weird, big xlr ends monoprice sells as microphone ends.
I purchased several of these to make DMX cables with Monoprice DMX Bulk Cable. I usually use more expensive, industry-standard connectors that cost about twice as much as these, but I figured I'd give them a try. These connectors get the job done just fine. I used them for a permanent installation project and had no issues. I would probably not trust these connectors in a high-impact/heavy stage use setting, but for low-impact situations I would say they are a good value.
PROS: good value fairly easy to install
CONS: not the best build quality concerns for durability in heavy use situations
